Brief intro: I purchased a used 2018 Stinger 2.0T Premium with 18,500 miles on it. I installed the Lap3 Uncle Chip last month and have been driving on the 93 octane setting with the stock spark plugs. Have had zero problems and have been more than happy, but I read about the spark plug blowout issues with the stock plugs, so I purchased the HKS M45XL spark plugs from the same vendor and installed them today. Immediately after installation, my car experienced hesitation and soft knocking under throttle. Brought the car home and put the old spark plugs back in, and my car is once again behaving beautifully. The spark plugs that were stock in the vehicle are labeled "NGK." I'd be very appreciative if anyone can provide some insight as to why the M45XL, which was marketed as being a solution to spark plug blowout, seems to have created that very issue for me. Many thanks!

No, I didn't. I assumed that since the M45XL was being touted as a necessity with the engine tune, the plugs would already be sufficiently gapped. Nowhere did I see something saying, "Hey, even after you buy these racing spark plugs, you'll still need to have them regapped."

These plugs fit on many cars and every application requires them to be gapped differently.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
As a general rule NEVER install spark plugs in ANY car without first verifying the gap. The factory gap can (and often will be) off. Autozone sells cheap tools to check the gap and open/close it. For the Stinger you want to be in the .022-.026 range.
