Anyone else getting a little concerned about resale?

Not concerned for the same reasons others have said.

Kia will also likely butcher the exterior design on the facelift, making the first generation more appealing on the used market.

RIGHT?! Whoever decided that tail light change is smoking something powerful

Cars are not assets unless collectables. This car however is more than a point A to point B car. It's a fun to drive car that can go to the track or the grocery store. Resale blaa keeping it all 200,000 miles of my warrenty

With the off and on talk about the Stinger's future, I'm beginning to get a little worried about getting stuck with a sinking asset. If it gets discontinued, I know my Stinger might just plummet in value overnight, and dealers will snicker when I come in to trade.

I figured I'd trade later this year anyway, but I pucker everytime I see someone mention that the Stinger might get the axe, or at least not get a mid-cycle update. Makes me wonder if I should bail sooner than later. Anyone else getting a little nervous?

Not worried at all. Cars are not an investment and you will always lose money on them. Best thing is to not worry about it and drive and enjoy your car.

Now modifications are another story. Those are just spent money with no resale value -- and some will actually reduce the value of the car. Which is why I plan to save the stock airboxes after my CAIs are installed.
A really experienced panel beater where I live advised that he thinks the Stinger may become a " collectable " car and if it remains closer to stock will hold it's value more. At the time I wanted a cartoon fibre duck billed spoiler, painted to match the car put on but he again advised that in time all the adhesives they have to use would ruin my paint and that aftermarket spoilers etc rarely fit perfectly. Some top end panel beaters around here refuse to install aftermarket parts, it gives their business a bad name when parts don't fit well and owners complain.

I love mine, plan to keep it a long time. Maybe leave it to one of the grand-kids. But I fully expect it to be worth more by then, than I paid for it. I was expecting a serious depreciation in the beginning, then climb back up as it becomes a classic.

What I'm thinking as well, though have no plans to sell for a long time. Some people might find the restyle less attractive.
I'm also somewhat hoping that if Kia adds bimodal exhaust that some of the EVC exhausts drop a bit in pricing.

I think in AUS that's more likely.

I feel it fits a niche there that we don't have much demand for here in the US. In a way, I'm glad I don't see them around.

There is only a handful where I live and I don't spot them very often. Mine's a daily, when she's out she always gets someone's attention, like you I enjoy the fact the Stinger is not common.

Yeah, I kinda like not seeing myself coming the other way. :D
Lol, I actually saw another Micro blue going the opposite way one morning, we passed each other, I nearly snapped my neck ( never knew there was another Blue where I live ) I thought " that's what I look like on the road......NICE !! :)

Cars are not an investment.
I think we all know that. But when you trade a car you have to have some interest in how much it's worth. Some have a larger percentage of original value than others, and things like a discontinuation can have a serious negative effect on that.

I trade pretty often, and I always want to get the max trade-in I can so the trade doesn't put me farther in the hole.

You don't build wealth by buying cars (event the exotic market is tricky). Best strategy is buy a used car that meets your needs and NOT the most car you can *afford*...

If you don't plan to keep a car past a few years - just lease.
For real car lovers, that's kind of a sad point of view. I don't view cars as appliances or necessary evils. To me, they're exciting and fun, and I look forward to the new body styles, engines, and technology that comes almost every year. And yes, I usually get as much car as I care topay for.

Oh, and I DO lease ... I just trade out of my leases about every 18 months or so., because there's always something new and shiny out there! ;)

True, but HOW MUCH you lose is a consideration!

If they discontinue it after only three years, I venture to say it may (reassuring you I'm saying "MAY") be in the playing field of the Chevy SS. They sold those for a couple of years and are holding value extremely well. This is a sports sedan. Even with the KIA name, I think it'll hold fairly well. I would not venture to say that any of the GT cars will be had under $25k for awhile unless they have high miles.

It won’t be discontinued after 3 years. The refreshed Stinger has been spotted many times testing. Kia likely plans to produce either 2 or 3 model years of the refresh. It’s after the refresh that things are up in the air.

Cars were never investment, unless you buy a super rare collectors car, just chill and enjoy the car, its time to sell then sell if you are like me that is going to keep the car for ever then you won't give a damn.

The resale values have already tanked hard on the Stingers. This time last year the resale values were actually really good. Now they are pretty bad. Not INFINITI bad but still not great.

If you are worried about resell value then lease the car. However, if anyone is expecting to get out of the lease early without a significant loss they are in for a rude awakening.

You have to keep this car for at least three years no matter how you acquired it now. Otherwise you will always be underwater.

NOPE! Why would I ever worry about a non investment.

If you worry about the depreciation then better have bought a much cheaper car and put the rest of the money in stocks, real state, lottery, gambling, Kia debadging service, etc. As for me I was fortunate to buy the car cash and will keep the car until dies so I am not vulnerable at all what the market does.

It would be easier for you to add a signature to your posts saying you paid cash for your car. That way you won't have to continuously type it out. Also, you could add that list of fantasy cars and all their problems...and how envious everyone is of you.

P.S- Which state is the real one?
