• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

I found out today that we have a forum member who has been given the privilege of being known as the very first owner of a Stinger in Australia.

He put a deposit down after seeing the car in the Detroit car show last year. At the time the Australian dealers did not even know about the car in Australia. Kia Australia got news of this and offered him to be an ambassador for the car in the Sydney region as he has the deep chroma blue which appears to be quite popular. Along with this fantastic honour he also was available to some unique offers from Kia. His car looks beautiful and he is now helping us to develop some more new types of accessories for the members to buy like embroidered micro fibre towels.

He did not want to brag about it but I thought it was worth a mention as I felt it was a milestone moment for him and the Stinger itself.
Can you guess who?
It’s STING! From Sydney!
An awesome milestone mate and well done .:D

Thanks guys. He was very worried you might take it the wrong way. It’s nice to see the interest and support. I spoke on the phone to him today and he is VERY knowledgeable on all things Stinger. I enjoyed our conversation alot about the stinger he knows so much about many of the issues we have been discussing. Hopefully he will be a great source of unique info in the future. I can’t wait to see the accessories he has come up with because I know you will all want them. We will keep, you posted.

No problem here, someone has to be 1st & I’m also glad he is passionate about this car as well, can never have enough insight & knowledge.

Congrats @Sting, you deserve to be recognised for such a milestone, first Stinger owner in Australia, now that is something to be so proud of, and feel comfortable too share with all forum members, your lucky to have AV8R, supporting you as he has done, he is a good man for sharing this information on your behalf.

Also i believe Richard from Tasmania, who owns a Deep Chroma Blue and is a forum member, is the first Stinger owner in the state of Tasmania, there was an article i believe in the local newspaper with a photo of him at the dealership standing beside his Stinger.
Sorry Richard, i hope you do not mind me sharing this info.

Put it out there we need stuff like this! Well done Richard!

Onya Dickie, gotta love Tasmania, my sister lives there, great place to visit, way too cold to live

Thanks for that @AV8R and congratulations @Sting.
Great little bit of nostalgia.
I've been wondering from day dot who was the first. Up until now I knew of two that had put a deposit before me through this forum, @app_master from Queensland and I can't remember the other, may have been Sting. My deposit was placed on the 24th of January 2017 after I also watched it streamed live from the Detroit auto show on the 7th of January. I had the same issues with dealers not knowing about the car. The salesman at the time needed more information that could allow me to put a holding deposit. So by the time he got back to me and me being able to the get to the dealer it took a couple of weeks.
I'd love to know if there was any others from Melbourne or around Australia that put deposits around that time and the date that Sting put it down?
This does not change that fact that we all love the car equally but just something I've been wondering.

My curiosity got the better of me and I went back into the Australian Pre Release forum looking for the people that had deposits before me and found that App Master had a deposit on the 20th of January 2017 but unfortunately didn't go through with his order and I wasn't able to find any other.

By no means I want to rain on Sting's parade but he said on the 18th of October when he picked up his car that his deposit was placed on the 13th of February.
The first I've seen on this forum to pick up a car was @sticks on the 11th of October and I picked mine up on the 13th of October. I'm not sure how it has all happened for Sting but hope he can make the most of it.

I'm still curious of others that may have picked up their cars or put deposits before those dates.

Hey there Marco-Oz, haven't seen you online for a while, how's the Stinger going? have you gone to any Stinger owner meets ?

I’m only going by what Sting told me that he was told by Kia he was the first to order. Maybe drop him a private post and nut it out!

Hey Mate,
I’ve been so busy with work and my family but I do jump on every few days or week or so to have a look over the threads.
I’m like a teenager again, the car is unbelievable and it still gets so much attention, there’s always a stranger at the lights or the local super market that wants to chat about the car. I have to admit I’m enjoying it.
It’s just clicked over 4000km as I don’t do a lot of long distance driving but the drives I do do are often thrilling.
I’ve meet a local with a DCB GT and a guy who sold me a dash cam end up buying a black one because he loved the car that much. Other then that I haven’t been able to attend any meets. The Great Ocean Road day sounded like a great day out but I was away that weekend. I’m looking forward to meeting up on future ones.
How is yours going? I’m sure you’re experiences are like mine?

All good mate, it was more of a reach out for other early buyers. As the first shipment began in Queensland and continued down the cost I’d expect mine wasn’t the first received but the deposits placed still have me intrigued.

It could have been that he meant he was the first deep chroma blue in Oz???

Seriously good bit of Kit. I often do nights and the early morning drive home sees the tail wagging, lol :sneaky:
