One of my hobbies is watching YT auto reviews.

So, I can't comment on which ones are good and which ones suck (esp. on an auto forum)?

Considering that you seem to care so much about what I think of them, maybe you need to follow your own advice?

And DD thinks he got a great deal by purchasing a '18MY Stinger when he could have gotten a deal almost as good on a '19MY (esp. if he waited a couple more months) and then he wouldn't have had to b!tch about the tech that was missing, plus, pretty much the additional amount he would have paid for a '19MY would have been made up in the lower depreciation hit (and the enjoyment of getting more of the tech features that one wanted).

Doug's ok. To me, he seems like he is autistic, maybe on the low end of the spectrum.

It obviously does not matter either way, but it may explain his somewhat annoying persona. Not to say people on the spectrum are annoying, but they can be perceived as such.

The leaps and bounds that Kia has made in the past few years (starting in 2012) is pretty remarkable. At first they were known as cheap junk. Then they added the warranty and addressed reliability, but the designs were still ugly. Next, they improved the designs and took a big leap forward. Now with the Stinger and their other vehicles it really is night and day difference from their origins. Maybe Kia should utilize the "THAT'S a Kia?!!" surprise moment in their marketing. With the new focus on GT versions of their lineup, they really will check all of the boxes.

The self depricating marketing angle didn't work for Chevy.

I live in South Florida, near a certain orange occasional resident and in this area if you are not driving an AMG or Audi S (if you are a "car guy") people spit at you .... If you are reasonably well off it seems mandatory to have at least one giant (preferably German) SUV thing. God forbid Asian, or <gasp> a Kia!!

I can understand people thinking he's annoying. I really enjoy his videos, but sometimes his mannerisms are a little much. He is married though.

Since Jay Leno was brought up, I just want to point out he isn't disliked by fellow comedians because he's annoying. He's disliked by comedians (and other celebrities (and non-celebrities) ) because he's a **** that has has f*cked over everyone he's ever worked with/for.

But his car collection is stellar. *shrugs*

As for Doug, I don't watch his videos for expert car opinions. I watch because he "reviews" some interesting vehicles and his trademark "quirks and features" are at times interesting as well, specifically with older supercars and luxury vehicles. I do find it rather odd what he does with his fingers when showing specific areas of the car's interiors. I don't need to see close ups of anyone's digits gently gliding across the radio volume knob. But I guess one of his quirks and features is hand modeling a car's infotainment controls. *double shrugs*

Doug has found a strange niche in the YT "automotive blogger" sphere. I really don't think he's a bad guy or anything. By and large, I do not care one iota about his subjective opinion on a car, because he can be incredibly out of touch. For example, his "review" bashing the Mitsubishi Mirage because he couldn't seem to wrap his head around the fact that even people with a lower income sometimes need/want a new car with a warranty. Or the fact that he can ramble on with incredibly specific facts and figures about a Ferrari F40 but you can see the gears in his head start stripping when presented with a three dial climate control (I believe this was the Audi R8 video), a graphic equalizer from the 80s, or a high beam switch on the floor.

I'll watch a Doug video if he's covering a car that I'm actually interested in because he'll give me all the information I'd ever want without having to spend hours researching it myself. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed his writing on Jalopnik and AUTOTRADER DOT COM SLASH OVERSTEER a lot more than I do his videos. I'll give DeMuro this - there are a LOT of automotive content creators on YT who seemingly are just there to flex. Doug might skate precariously close to "flexing" territory at times, but he manages to not do it fairly successfully.

If your buying a car, all reviews are good, because, it’s the quirks and features no one else talks about.
I learnt more about the stingers infotainment system from his video more than any other.

I despise those badge snobs, they think they are worth as much as what they drive...I can afford 3 AMGs cash but I drive a KIA so what!? I don't give rats about what people think I drive, its my f money and I buy whatever I want.
