Onya!
I disagree, the splash guards are under immense pressure when they're being slapped with slush and debris at 60mph, so they will flex, and when they do, chances are that will wear the paint down in the spots.
onya2You can bolt these on the back....

you answered your own question ,what do you think they are designed to protect , for sure they will protect your lower car from rock chips mud etc ............... vs the MAYBE , look around at most OEM mud guards as a reference point , in Kia's case they are installed on most mainstream models using the same materials design and install process . I think you'll see all is OK ................. but I dont think you should put them on until you see what type of damage you get from rocks etc , maybe none , which renders them as a N/A ..........you'll worry too much about the "what iffs" if you install themIf being anal means i dont want chaffed lines down to the bare metal at each corner of the fenders than I guess you got me? I agree, I just put them on for that reason, I was getting “shotblasting” on the guard edge, fitted this to put a stop so it won’t get any worse, I expect these will be on for the life of the car or at least when I get rid of it whenever that will be so underneath them has no concern to me from this point on.you answered your own question ,what do you think they are designed to protect , for sure they will protect your lower car from rock chips mud etc ............... vs the MAYBE , look around at most OEM mud guards as a reference point , in Kia's case they are installed on most mainstream models using the same materials design and install process . I had this exact issue with my old Prelude. The OEM accessory guards were rubber and, over time, imprinted/wore fine lines (along the guard edge where it met the paint) down to the primer under each guard.
Strangely enough thats the same car I had issues in the past with as well. I had a 2001 Honda Prelude, I loved that car but it came with OEM splash guards that I promptly removed on delivery only to find the paint damage underneath. What year was yours?
Haven’t seen thatView attachment 1638 View attachment 1639 So here are some shots I took of the total side view , you can see the mud guards are really subtle and dont impact the look , they really work well in keeping the road grime off the sides . very happy with the performance !
