Installed my big bore throttle body from Shark racing on Saturday, so far this has been the biggest performance gain of all the mods I have done I can really tell a difference in the butt dyno, here are a list of mods I already have
1. Typhoon cold air intake.
2. Agency intercooler.
3. Velocitech Big Mouth intake air ducts.
4. Go-fast bits blow off valves.
5. Borla Cat-Back exhaust
5. Shark racing Big Bore throttle body.
6. Oil catch can.

I'm sure I'm going to regret this questioning, but WTH....

I'm assuming you have some tuning done for this and that you're still using stock injectors, correct?

If so, who tuned for the TB?

3.5mm increase over the stock bore. I'm sure that lets the car breathe a little better and may have some benefit during tuning but how much? That's not much bigger and not much use until you basically upgrade everything upstream of it. What good is a bigger throttle body if it's being fed by 2.5" charge pipe.

I want to like this because I know bored throttle bodies can open a car up but I'm gonna need to see more than what Shark has so far.

I'm hesitant to believe any significant improvements from the big bore TB, unless proven by a before/after dyno. One thing that most likely will change is throttle response, and I assume this is what many experience and then assume that there is a major power difference.

I'm glad you feel a difference, and I hope you feel that said difference was worth the price! As for me, consider me a skeptic unless proven otherwise. The restriction just isn't there...

Hence my questions...a wide and will compensate for the tiny fuel delta by adjusting the lambda...net neutral.

Now, their grounding kit, I may go ahead and buy. Cleaning up the electrical signals can also make cars perform better, even modern, newer cars. It may also do something to address the power going to our craptastic coil packs and enable us to run something bigger than a microscopic spark plug gap if the boost is turned up, and you can do worse with 60 bucks.

Here's a couple pictures of the old throttle body versus Big Bore throttle body from shark racing, I don't have numbers to show proof of any kind except for the way it feels when I drive the car and I'm glad I bought it

I have also been interested in hearing about this TB. I saw it awhile ago but had not found anyone who has used it. I put one on a 370z I had and it helped quite a bit. I will be following this thread with interest....

So I was looking into this and the problem is the manifold. The manifold inlet I believe is the same size as the stock TB. So even throwing on a big bore should net you zero, unless the information I got on the manifold inlet is incorrect.

That was one of my points!

Placebo city...

You guys can do all the math and measuring you want all I can say is it is on my car and it makes a big difference, all my other Mods together didn't even give me close to the performance that I have now
Hey I'm not saying I'm correct or your wrong. Again I just did some research and as soon as I seen the manifold inlet size that is when I stopped chasing it. Could you be making more, sure, specially if you are saying you are. What I would suggest is possibly getting a draggy and seeing what your times are. I know its more trouble than its worth and you do not need to prove anything to anyone. If you like it and you feel like your making more power then that is all that should matter. Now what I would like to see is shark racing do this as they are the ones who are selling this. They should take the time to show that it actually does have an improvement by i.e. draggy time (which does have many variables) or do a pre and post dyno to show the net gains. But again not my car not my money and all we can do is take you at your word.

How do you know that? Any metrics you wish to share? Before and after dyno, 1/4 mile time, anything?

I like all the other mods except the TB and out of personal preference — BOVs.

The “big bore” throttle body isn’t going to do anything without changing other aspects like the intake manifold to accommodate the larger throttle body. It’s not a point of restriction on the stock engine. Now in a modified engine the throttle body may be a point of restriction if the engine needs more air than the throttle body opening can provide. However, on our platform this isn’t a point of restriction.

To each their own. That buying decision could’ve been worse...you could’ve opted to invest in stickers.

Even if the engine needed more air than the TB could provide would the inlet to the manifold still be the restriction and be the bottle neck and not provide more air with a larger TB?

Yes, you would hope that the intake manifold was changed in some fashion to accommodate more airflow. In some cases that may be all that’s needed and you can leave the TB alone.

I mean, the OP stated that the TB was the biggest butt dyno gain of all the mods he listed. CAI, exhaust are usually the ones that people can 'feel' and the TB is giving a bigger seat of the pants than those? Id like to give him the benefit of the doubt....maybe the plate is opening faster giving it the same effect as a pedal tuner?

I certainly appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions, glad I purchased the Big Bore throttle body before I talked to everyone here more than likely you guys would have persuaded me not to buy it, I would never give false information on this site, in my opinion this purchase was well worth the money I spent.
