Stinger cabin temperature

The black plastic pipe-looking section with the serial numbers seems to me like a shroud or casing as to the left of it, you can see in both pics that there is a metallic section exposed. In both pics those parts look identical and doesn’t seem to have any bits missing. If anything was hot enough to burn, it would be that exposed metallic section. One way to confirm would be a gun thermometer thingy?

Your dealer is a drop kick, I hardly ever use AC when I’m on my own & I have no heat issues, take it to GWKia & talk to them, may get a sympathetic ear.
Thanks R, rang GW Kia a couple of days ago they said the earliest they could fit me in was later next week whereas Heartland said bring it straight down. Going to give them the right of reply with the temps they recorded. If i get a negative response ill take it further. Very interesting as youre out this way too.

Im sure i can see the difference now, Ozstung's pipe is missing that long hard plastic part with the Part Number on it, in the photo Sting supplied, and if you look close enough the other parts around it all, are the same, does anyone else see what im seeing ? Correct me if i see it wrong.
Im pretty sure theyre the same, i took my photo side on whereas Stings is looking up i think. The service guy has told me mine is the same as his Stinger. Personally i feel they are not there to find issues the trust factor i feel is 0%.

I'll look into this further tomorrow when i get to the service/accessories.
Getting a boot liner and mudguards/flaps.
Oh yeah somebody asked me if my GT was v6. YES it is. AUG 2017 BUILD

I can’t recall if this was mentioned in this thread or not, but I’ve noticed after driving for an hour or so that the spot my cellphone sits in gets super hot. My cell was probably as hot as I could comfortably touch when I took it out.

My phone reads a message that temperatures of 40c or more are harmful to the phone and that's when its sitting in the charging dock . And that's with the slider open.

Can’t that cause exploding batteries? And it’s the designated spot for your phone too.

You should turn off the wireless charger if you're not using it.

Yikes. Do you know if it's the spot getting hot or just your phone getting hot?

It’s definitely the car. When I put my hand in there it’s like an oven.

Hello, all

Question, has anyone with the charging pad noticed excessive heat? Mine is hot enough to actually warm the side of my water bottle in the front holder. I am not using it to charge a cell phone as mine is not compatible so the heat has nothing to do with charging. I am a bit concerned if it is from the charger or coming up from the drive train.. i have only drove 540 KM on her...

That exact thing happened to me but not often. I’m not sure if it’s heat from the USB charger or heat from the car itself/transmission tunnel.

Interesting, I went out to Canmore and back today - So i guess it was approximately 2 hrs of spirited break in driving before i happened to notice the heat(load in different gears). Will monitor it this week to see if things change up.

Any other Canadians with Limiteds care to chime in?

It's an inherent property of wireless charging. You have electricity flowing through air, not in an insulated wire, to your phone. A large amount of that (up to 20%) is going to escape as heat. If it's *excessively* hot, then it might just be it being in a contained spot, but wireless charging makes phones hot by default.

Well i guess the question is "why" would it be so hot when there was nothing on it to charge. There is an indicator light on the QI if it is actually charging and it wasn't lite as a note. I just find it odd that it was hot enough to warm up my water bottle. and if my phone was compatible or i just wanted to leave my cell in the compartment, i would be a bit worried about having it cook like that on a long distant road trip or any kinda trip really.

Thanks for the Reply Berzerker

You're not the first to complain about heat from the console. One of the guys down in auz actually was burned. I believe his dealer told him it was normal and to run the ac. Seems crazy. I'd ask the dealer to look at it. If it is really a problem it will take a bunch of people complaining before it filters up to corporate.

Is the actual charging pad hot when not in use? Or the front cup holder is hot making you think it's the adjacent wireless charging pad heating it up?

I'm in the US and thus am not blessed with the wireless charger on my Stinger, but I noticed on recent road trip from Seattle to Vancouver that the center tunnel definitely gets warm after driving long distance. The bottom of the center console is warm to the touch. I think that may be the heat you're experiencing?

Yah, I physically placed my hand on the charging pad and it seamed abnormally hot. Put the AC on lol... there is no AC vented into that space from what i can see..
