First off, I really like my GT2 inside and out. However, this thing consistently adds 15-30 minutes to my work commute every time I stop to get fuel or grab a coffee. Someone always approaches me and it leads to a 15 minute conversation about the car which leads to me showing them the interior and talking about the highly decorated group of engineers that designed it. This problem occurs if I leave at 4 am or 8 am and weather conditions have zero effect. Seriously, on a 10 degree, snowy Michigan morning, the problem still persists. I also noticed that the issue gets about 15-25% worse if u clean the car.

Any idea on what I can do to correct this issue?

At this point, I think Kia owes me some commission and they have done nothing to help!...... haha!

Tell them you're short on time? Stop being overly friendly? Ignore them? Reject their request to tour your private property?

*Shrugs* take your pic.

I've heard good things about the Toyota Prius. I guarantee you'd have none of those issues with a Prius....

I have certainly been stopped before, when I first got the car I would actually show the car. However with the way my car sits now it's every fill up (or close to it)

I generally tell people it's the sports sedan that KIA built, been out a few years and to google it. I'm nice, but I also don't over extend anymore. Just be kind, but don't make your time widely available. We all got shit to do! I think people are just curious about it. They aren't cars we see everyday and they are just curious.

Will a Toyota dealer take a Kia in for trade?

Not a chance! It's a freakin' Kia! Sorry for your bad luck.

F*%#, I guess I’m just stuck with it. I’m going to have to buy an in ground tank for home and have fuel delivered. I guess I should also start making coffee. Any suggestions on a good thermos that keeps coffee warm for extended periods.

This happens to me as well haha direct them to the forums.

I’m on a mission to make KIA’s cool!
I talk to any and everyone I can.

What happens when everyone in town has one because of our advertising? Is Kia going to build us an even more unique and better performing car? Haha

@Hoonin ... give them the stink eye. Trust me, it works every time. I even use it on my wife...she stays far away.

Maybe a rustic looking paint job to give it the beater look will help some hahaha

Seriously. I’m amazed how many different Model 3s I see every day just on the way to work.
I see quite a few Tesla’s in DC and even saw one with the plates “gaslol.” This is how I picture most of their owners.

Haha, I don’t like bragging, but I do like talking to people, so I truly don’t mind the conversations that are constantly sparked by this car. Plus, living in an area that is dominated by Big 3 employees, Big 3 cars, and a small percentage of foreign cars, it makes for great conversation. I’ve owned Ford’s my whole life and still currently own 3, this is my first foreign and it took this car to make me step out of my loyalty even though I am still very satisfied with Ford.

A huge factor that made me purchase a foreign, was when the UAW put GM on strike for 2 months, causing the company I work for to lay off 50+ people as well as costing us 10s of thousands a day (yes multiple $10,000s). When people around here inevitably ask the, “why didn’t you buy a Mustang, Camaro, SS, Corvette, Challenger, Charger, etc...”, question. I like to tell them why....... the strike. Followed by, “I loved the car anyways, the quality, thought, and engineering that went into this car is nothing short of astounding, especially taking the price into account”......... (despite the poorly designed U.S. spec factory auto start, they don’t need to know that though).

Yeah, model 3 has taken over from the entry-level BMW 3 series as the "it" car in the Bay Area.
