JB4 + new plugs, cutting out when boost starts

BTW if anyone has this issue we traced increased electrical sensitivity down to something on the JB4 initial load settings and can send a replacement 2580 chip to correct if needed. Systems shipped around Oct/19 - Jan/20 have the more sensitive setting.

Sorry about the delayed response, I’ve been out of town with work.

So far I’ve replaced the spark plugs twice. First time gapped to .023”, then I spent $700 on all new coils because it was surely a coil issue. The coils made no difference so I once again changed plugs and gapped them to .020”. Total all that up and I’m at $900+ with a JB4 that still cuts out on every map except map 0.

I’m glad to hear there is an issue with the JB4 that we can resolve, but I’m not happy having spent so much time and money. What do I need to do now to get the JB4 updated or replaced to one that’s not “overly sensitive”?
 
Hey Punkin, were you able to fully diagnose this issue? Was it coil packs?
Nope no change. In the above post it seems Terry has found what the issue likely is. I’m going to be fair and hold my opinions until we’ve had time to work out a fair resolution.

I having the same exact issues, haven't tested plugs or coils yet, just found this thread. When I go WOT in first and second the car shutters at the top end and the JB4 recording freezes and does not log anything useful. Does this sound like the JB4 chip or plugs/coils?

When did you receive the JB4?
 
Not likely a 2580 issue but a new 2580 may mask your issue. The "real" fix is usually plugs.

I have aftermarket plugs gapped to what has been suggested on here. Do you think I need another new set? Thanks for the quick reply, i appreciate the help!

After finding a few more threads with similar stories I decided to try the IKH27 plugs out since I have the IKH24 currently. Just ordered the plugs, I will update when I get them installed.

Just to update, I was having a hesitation/misfire at the top end of each gear on Map 2. This got worse and would misfire on the slightest acceleration. Uninstalled JB4 and nothing changed, no check engine lights/ codes until after JB4 was uninstalled. Got Cylinder 3 misfire codes. I replaced my IKH24 plugs with IKH27 plugs and the stuttering/misfiring is fixed. Cylinder 3 had a cracked plug.

Hope this info could help someone else if they have similar symptoms.
