I am in the market for a new or used Stinger. I would like a GT 3.3T with AWD...or so I think. Is the AWD worth it over the RWD? What kind of prices are you folks paying for something like that? The dealerships where I live (North Carolina) seem to be about $43k for that version and I am not seeing any real rebates or discounts. Granted I am just doing internet searches and have not actually visited a dealer yet. Any models or years I should avoid if I buy a used one?
I picked AWD due to having snow on the ground for 4-5 months out of the year. It has handled great in its first winter with snow tires.
2019 MYs should have pretty good lease deals on them since 2020s have begun to roll out. I'd avoid 2018 MYs since it's the first model year (paint, sound, brakes, etc) and is missing some of the standard equipment that most 2019 GTs have. You can always call a dealership and ask for a OTD (Out the door price, which includes TTL) and most will give it to you.
Welcome to the forums! Well you living in NC you don't really need AWD unless you live in the mountains. It's nice to have but really mean to help with tackling snow. However, it's great to have the additional grip and will save you on tires. I live in NC myself and I have a 2018 GT2 AWD. I do visit NY often around holidays and they get some decent snow.
You can push some dealerships to give decent prices. You have to patience and shop around. 2018's have had some issues with quality and squeaks and there are some issues with brake deposits that the dealerships always say it's warped rotors, nothing crazy. I would definitely suggest a 2019 or above. I would even go so far as to say wait a few months to see what the 2021 would bring to the table. The forums here have been invaluable in hunting down squeaks and creaks and tips on other fixes.
The GT2 has lots of Tech and comfortable features. HUD, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel. The base GT will give you the big engine and save you quite a bit of money. The GTS which is the Orange version of the stinger sits between the GT and GT1 trim levels. It comes with a limited slip differential allowing you to have some fun with it and it's AWD. You get some nice carbon fiber trim and Alcantara areas inside.
You are smart and found this forum before you purchased the car. Park your butt here, read up and ask questions. There is a of knowledge here that we can share. Do your research, test drive the car if you haven't. However, be warned after I test drove the car once I went from 5% chance I would get a stinger to 100% chance. The best part about the Stinger in my opinion is how rare the car is on the road. It's not a mustang or a BMW. It's unique and a performance bargain. This car is amazing on long drives and has a decent potential for modding and tuning.
I also picked up an Awd..mines a 19 GT1 and I’ve had great time with the car and closing in fast on 20k miles. Seeing as you’re a fellow stang owner I would maybe go with awd as it’ll be more practical in inclement weather and it’s nice not having to worry about spinning tires when its wet out.

Also to give my experience, I had a few interior rattles and creaks with my 2019 Stinger so even the newer ones aren’t perfect. Nothing a little felt tape and rubber grease doesn’t fix lol. My brakes have been pretty solid though, still on the stock pads and rotors.
The MY18 is a great car. The vast majority of them do not exhibit the flaws that wind up being discussed by those who do have issues. If the first year Stinger was a rattletrap with bad sound systems and crappy brakes, the reviews would have revealed these first year model flaws. Instead, we hear how impressed the reviewers are. Yes, some of the vehicles in the long term reviews were less than perfect; but even these "flawed" vehicles received favorable reviews. And that is an understatement.
I just completed 32.3K miles today. I've had mine since March 2018. Nothing has gone wrong. And my car is quiet, on the original brakes, and the sound system vibrates the cabin air.
