A way to keep power on after turning the engine off?

I've had my Stinger for six weeks and the only issue I've had with it is that at times when stopped, I'd like to be able to use the entertainment system while waiting in the car. It goes off by itself after several minutes once I shut off the engine. Is there a way to re-engage the battery while the car's engine is shut off without restarting the engine?

You could press the "On" button again without pressing down the brake pedal, but you're gonna get the same warning after a couple of minutes. I haven't heard of any way to bypass that

Practically my only gripe with the Stinger, too. If you double push the Start button again, it might keep the media system running. But I haven't experimented with insisting on that. I guess that I accept that Kia knows how to stay on the safe side of battery depletion, so who am I to argue? It's still annoying though; because I am accustomed (still) to being able to listen to my music with the engine off while my wife potters around inside her current errand stop. And now I can't.

I'm speculating the car gives you the battery warning and shuts off due to the idle-start-stop function off the AGM battery

One push the on button without pressing the brake pedal. This puts the car in accessory mode. I’ve left it in that mode for 15-20 minutes with no issues

CKeeler I'll have to try that. Thanks! I also like to re-set the trip miles whenever I fill up the car with gasoline but I haven't been able to do so unless I restart the engine. The re-set for trip miles is electronic/digital rather than mechanical .... as was with my previous vehicles.

BTW.When the power goes off, there is not a battery warning.... the power simply turns off after several minutes.

Hmm that's odd, I can always reset the odometers. And the warning I get is like two strips of text with a red Hazard triangle icon along the top of the screen, much like how the hvac controls show only at the top when not on 'climate' scree

Not the odometer. That does always stay on. There is a separate trip miles log (embedded in the front display) that can be re-set to zero at the start of a trip. I like to re-set it every time I fill up so that I can get an accurate indication of my mpg......

I always reset that also. I just do it right after I start the car back up

Average miles per gallon resets if you open the gas tank door. Of course, you can hold the OK button down too and it will reset. The Trip Info resets after the car has sat idle for at least four hours. And you can also reset it at any time by holding down the OK button. Accumulated Info, reset it by holding down the OK button. Otherwise if you never reset it, the miles will top out at 9999; the rest will continue to register the average mpg and the total drive time.

I haven’t seen trip miles re-set when I fill the tank unless I electronically reset it. I’ve never understood or particularly believed the “running” mpg reported on the screen and that is why I like to divide total miles by gallons every time I fill up to determine mpg. What I see is that for routine city driving, I’m getting about 20 mpg. I’ve gone on one trip and I averaged close to 29 mpg highway, which is close to what Kia claims for the Stinger base model.

I don't remember. I think it is an option in setup. All I know is that when I open the fuel door and fill 'er up, the average mpg resets. It's not a big deal, either way. Because, of course, you just reset it manually which amounts to the same thing.

Trip miles don't reset when refueling. That would kind of ruin the purpose of the information. That readout resets after the car sits idle for at least four hours. So, the most useful combo of the three screens is: average mpg between refueling; "trip info" for the length of the trip or per day; and "accumulated info" for the entire journey (road trip). Right now, I've had my "accumulated info" working on the winter; I reset it at the beginning of when I put my Nitto Motivo A/S tires on; and I'll reset it when I put my Michelins back on (probably c. halfway into March).

It's not opening the fuel door, it's adding fuel that resets it.

It's covered in the manual somewhere. A change of "x" liters.

That 4 hour delay in resetting is interesting as it explains why sometimes separate "trips" on the car are combined. I was confused by that.....

Or in some cases, a "re-shifting" of the float in the tank will reset it as well, since it thinks you added more fuel.

The fuel float/gauge/meter situation in the Stinger is some of the worst I've seen in any car, to be honest.

I don't know how it could be worse, since it's just a bog standard float sensor. And yes to the shifting of the float resetting the average mpg gauge. That has happened to me a handful of times; but only ever when I get down to well under 100 miles Range. If you don't want to risk that happening, drive less "spiritedly".

I agree - it does seem bad. I've seen my gauge report 1/8 of a tank at times, only to report almost 1/4 tank 5 minutes later on the same trip.

For the 2.0 or the base GT, I think what you do is hold the shift knob button down and turn off the engine. Works for me but can't speak to higher trims...
