I think I just blew my transmission

Just wondering...how much posting are you going to do here before you take the damn thing to the shop? There’s 0 that this forum can do for you. If you’re having issues with the trans...take it to the shop.

3 pages of speculation is useless dribble.

/thread

not all dribble somebody had something similar happened and they replace the transmission without any questions at all so that was good to know outside that yes a lot of questions and responses much like this.

You have no clue if their issue was anything close to similar. You’re making a judgment call off a post online. There’s no diagnostic documentation or reproducible circumstances. Would you point to this thread to tell the dealer your experiencing this issue? If not, then that post means nothing.

You’re making a mountain out of a molehill. Take the JB4 off, leave everything else alone and take the thing in. To do anything else is above and beyond what’s necessary. The only thing impacting the transmission’s function in any way is the JB4.

Just so you know, my visit to a new dealership netted some interesting information. Inadvertently, the service manager let on that he checks the Stinger forums about these cars. The discussion was more that he has a BMW that he's modified, and wanted to understand the aftermarket for Stingers. But, I have no doubt he has the capacity to put two-and-two together, and other service managers may be doing the same thing. Thus, you have to be careful what you post, or at least ensure you have enough of a buffer between who you really are and what you post here to just say it's coincidence, lol

Let’s not forget that Dealers make money performing warranty work so the incentive is there to help customers. If it were me I’d remove the piggyback and take it in, intakes and all.

If they deny your claim for warranty on your issue simply ask for a written automotive engineers report from a suitably qualified engineer to what caused this issue.
I insisted on that a few years ago on a previous car & amazingly they did a u-turn & addressed my issue & met the cost of repairs, funny that.

I totally agree with your logic, but unfortunately it's not so straightforward... Kia and Hyundai both work the same way when it comes to warranty work - Corporate specifies how long it takes to replace components and will subsequently pay according to their own timetable. That said, if a dealership mechanic takes longer to do the same amount of work the dealership will only get paid for how long Kia has predefined, not for how long it actually takes.

Because of this there is less incentive for some dealers to do some warranty jobs, especially the big ones, because they risk losing money compared to having someone just pay up front for all the resources they actually end up using.

Yes I actually thought about that them checking these posts.

If it’s transmission related, there’s nothing we can do for you here. I didn’t even think it was possible to miss a shift in an automatic.

I had it happen once in 15 years in my Legacy GT 5EAT when cornering hard with about 1 Qt low ATF levels. It almost felt like not quite shifting your bicycle chain far enough - a grab/release, grab/release, grab/release and then aborted the shift and stayed in the original gear. Mind you, that was under unusual circumstances. I babied it home, filled up the ATF and it was fine afterwards. I think not enough ATF -> not enough line pressure to move the gear far enough / get enough friction (not 100% of how it works internally).

I HAVE had one instance with jb4 map2 that felt like a slight slip, under light load, but nothing since.

What were you taking it in for though? Really I was just trying to find out who has had this type of a problem happen? And then just concerned about warranty obviously it's a brand new car only 11,000 miles on it, so I'm obviously shiting my pants here wondering how much is a new transmission would cost if they f****** .

Oil change, breaks and diffs and 45k milage stuff.. but mentioned that it had hit the rev limiter and droped out of boost on the track and said sometime when really getting on it it would jump ect kinda like a misfire but no check engine lights.

Edited.

Leaving the guy alone.

Sure am glad we don't have take our cars to the dealers in Australia for log book services, just a qualified mechanic that does log book services.

But when you hop online and start posting about it, talking about your performance modifications, worrying about the warranty (when there’s no need to worry if you didn’t do anything to raise suspicion), then talking about taking things off the car it all sounds like conspiracy to commit something.
You act like this is the first thread that went down like this. Come on, it might be the first one this month.

At least the OP didn't ask to have and get the entire thread deleted due to heavy modifications, engine damage, and street racing

If he did any more modifications, I don't think he'd have a Stinger anymore. Maybe a Rio :p

At this point, I hope this thread is a troll.

As I read I can’t help but think, “this is bad, but it can be worse”. And then the OP proceeds to make it worse.
  • Buys 2018 GT2 with 7500 miles.
  • Less than 3500 miles later, adds JB4.
  • Hops on the internet and creates a thread, “I think I just blew my transmission”.
  • Posts in same thread, can I delete messages after being told that service managers may link things if they can.
  • Shortly after says concerned about my warranty and how much a new transmissions costs.
Step away from the keyboard ANTONIO BROWN

I don’t think the JB4 contributed to the issues you’re having...maybe it’s just your own poor driving that caused this mishap or maybe something in the trans just failed.

But when you hop online and start posting about it, talking about your performance modifications, worrying about the warranty (when there’s no need to worry if you didn’t do anything to raise suspicion), then talking about taking things off the car it all sounds like conspiracy to commit something.
Honestly speaking what surprises me the most is the fact that he seems to be surprised that he blew his transmission when the first thing he does each time he gets to the car is to disable traction control and stability control on a heavilly modded car so that he can drive it like he's on a track.
f*cking hell, if my car was heavilly modded the last thing I would do is drive it like a dumbass straight after starting up the cold car.
