I think I just blew my transmission

Do you think they will try to blame it on the wheels and tires.
Wheels and tires never blew up a transmission. How is that even possible?

Well I have heard of them trying to say that the larger rotation overall diameter and sizing could cause stress on the transmission components inside. And then when you lower the car the angle of the drive shafts can cause or effect the transmission inside, its total horseshit it's just a way that I've heard of them trying to get out of warranty issues on Transmissions.

If youre worried about "them" trying to not cover it. Then you shouldnt be modding your car. But to answer your question no wheels/tires/lowering has no effect on the health of your transmission

I feel like it’s pretty fair to worry about Kia trying not to cover it if the damage was obviously not done from your mod. Especially if it’s the entire transmission.

Those are nice wheels, what are they called? Hope your issue fixes itself.

Interestingly a few years back I had an Xterra with 33" wheels/tires. When I bought the car I also purchased a warranty for it. Within 6 months the transmission quit on me. I found out the 06-10 Xterras were prone to have the radiator fluid leak into the transmission. The warranty company refused to repair my transmission, citing my non-stock tires as the reason it failed. They refunded my money and cancelled my policy.

Now I know damn well the issue wasn't caused by my setup but as a POS warranty company they were looking for any excuse not to pay out. They pointed out some fine print in the contract that said any non-oem parts installed on the car voids their POS warranty.

A few years after dumping the Xterra I got a letter in the mail that a class-action lawsuit was being processed against the company.

I don't think Kia (or any car manufacturer for that matter) will approach you in the same way. I just thought it was interesting that you were worried about what shouldn't even be considered a valid concern.

TLDR; take your car in to the dealership. It's probably a software problem. If you're concerned about warranty woes it's your JB4 that should be removed not the wheels.

Yeah I don't know what my deal is but non-stop problems. I had it in sport, I was kind of coming around the corner and my hand just slipped when I went to go into second. it didn't feel like it bounced it just went into the red line and stayed there for a second it didn't hit a red live in there just kept going..
Sounds like you went into neutral. So did you get to the bottom of your last problem or were you just out there giving it a few WOT pulls to see if you could #@$@% something else up. I think you need to start a new thread “Scott Curry’s Continuing Saga”.:(

Any chance this issue is related to the "misfires" you have been noticing? Perhaps those weren't engine related at all and are related to your drivetrain/transmission issue? This new problem could be an escalation of your original issue.

Take off your JB4 and take it in for a diagnostic.

This is mostly true I should create a brand new thread, no it never went into neutral.

What where the temps when you had the trans issue?
I was testing one morning and at 25 degrees, some wheel spin and a weak MAP signal hit the exact same trans symptoms. Thought for sure i broke it. Fine the next day.

No there still a misfireI if I go any more than map 2 even with e85 30% 40%.. so most likely a coil. I have no idea how I'm going to hunt that down, I just don't drive the piss out of it unfortunately like I would like to
I think your coil problem could be your mid passenger side. I believe I recall it came apart/was taken apart during plug swap. :whistle:Perhaps it got damaged somehow.

Probably the same 30°, but it definitely happened right after It missed shifted. I'll drive it this morning and see if anything has changed but I doubt it.

no that wasn't me I've never had any issues with coil pack coming apart I did hear about that though.

Did you have traction control and stability control fully disabled? The only time I'm able to bounce off the rev-limiter is when I have those fully disabled, otherwise it will upshift on its own, even when manually shifting using the paddles.

Anyway, got my fingers crossed that you're good. Interested to see how it drives today.

Yes they were fully disabled, I basically do that every time I get into the car. Drove the same something's majorly wrong.
