So I'm not sure what the existing tint level is on a stock Stinger. It seems to have some level of tint built into the windows on the rear windows in particular. I just setup an appointment to have my windows tinted next week and I chose 20% which is not actually legal in my state (4% too much). I am a little worried that it will be too dark when combined with the existing tint on the windows (if there is any). My other option is 30% which seems like it would be too light. Kinda looking for that blackout look, but need to be careful not to get it too dark.

So I'm just looking for opinions, or if you have already tinted your windows what level did you choose and what do you think.

Also not sure if this is in the right section, so move it if needed

Thanks

"Mafia Staff Car" level of tint is definitely too dark. Seriously though, there is a real safety benefit to keeping the front side windows transparent enough that other drivers can make eye contact with you to know that each party has seen the other.

I got ceramic tint done at 20%. I have a very lite interior so the guy at the shop said I could get away with a darker tint. You can still see my ugly mug in the driver's seat. I would say that if passing by you can't see any details but if you're parked next to me you'll see through pretty easily. The light reflection off the tint is the only thing that really obstructs the view in.

Yeah my previous Speed6 had the Ceramic tint at 20% on it. Black car Black interior, and I was just kind of ok with it. Didn't love it didn't hate it. Don't think I will do that on a White Stinger. Kinda looking for black colored vs mirror, I think

Great pics.. Thanks for the show and tell. A picture really is worth 1000 words..

Great looking car by the way..

Hey Bryan! Nice Stinge! Just wondering, why did you put a darker tint on the back?

Tint on the front windows in NJ is illegal. I figured if I went lighter it wouldn’t stick out so much to get pulled over or be hassled.

Every state seems to be different (except for the front windshield which is a no-no). Most cops don't carry the meters to measure, but if you travel into other states, you need to know what their limits are. If I remember 38% light transmission was side windows in Missouri (that's been long ago - probably changed by now.)

Yeah Washington is now 24%.. It used to be 20 i'm almost positive.. But i live in the sticks and no one really cares unless your being stoopid. I work right next to the highschool which is across the street from the police station and I see tons of cars with limo tint.

My state law is 32% but is rarely enforced. Cops in my area have real crime to fight. Most will say that if they can see from one window all the way through the other side, then you are fine. The only time it is enforced is to racially profile or give them probable cause to stop you. I'll go with 32% on top of the inherent tint in the glass. That should get me fairly dark as it's what I have now.

As a former deputy sheriff, I can tell you that IF an officer cannot see inside your car from the side windows, you could be asked to get out of the car, sometimes under a felony car stop condition. That is basic officer safety procedure because the officer cannot see that you are not armed. Not recommended unless you like eating concrete face down.

Would it help the situation if we were to roll down all windows if stopped? I too, dislike concrete between my teeth. Hard to floss out...

I wish this thread existed two weeks ago :(

Depends of course on the officer. Lots of young "cuff 'em an' stuff 'em cops out there. Also depends on why your were stopped, the neighborhood, etc. etc. The basic problem is that if an officer can see your hands, (s)he knows if you are armed or not. There are some very nervous cops in some places due to recent shootings and ambushes.

Check Amazon for better floss.
