Hey all. My name is Stacey. I am a new Stinger owner. I just purchased a 2019 Stinger GT2. I had a question regarding the antenna. We have recently gotten a lot of snow and I had my car parked outside. I listen to podcasts through android auto when I drive but today it said "cannot play audio file," which has yet to happen prior. Could this be due to snow on the antenna. Am I understanding correctly that the "shark fin" on the top back is the antenna? TYIA

Welcome aboard, Ms. Grimm! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your Stinger! I'll let the others chime in, in regards to the antenna question... I'm glad you found us! :)

The shark fin is just for satellite radio. The AM/FM antenna is hidden under the rear glass towards the top of the hatch. If the podcasts are from your phone then it’s not something to do with the car antenna. Maybe your phone is having trouble

Congrats on the Stinger and welcome to the forum. If you are streaming the podcast from your phone, then the car's antenna does not play a role in that. The USB connection does not provide any link to the cars antenna, it provides data from the phone to the car. It is something with your phone.

Those answers are better than anything I could offer. But I can say welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the hive Stacey. Congrats on the new Stinger. Need some pics if possible.

As others have said this will have nothing to do with the antenna. Does it work when it's not plugged into Android Auto? And you have probably already tried this but if not sometimes the simplest solution is the one that works, have you tried restarting the phone?

Also, welcome! Red is a good color:thumbup:.

Welcome! That sure is a pretty car. Sorry it had to get snowed on :(

I have had my TracFone lose connection (or my car lose connection to Bluetooth, either way, you can't know until you troubleshoot), but only once: it wasn't the car. After messing around with everything on the car I could think of, I turned my phone off and back on again. Voila! Hasn't happened again, yet. :P

i have had this issue with multiple android auto car head units. Its a known issue with the app, to fix it play a song on like google play and then go back to the podcast app it should then work fine.

If the problem is with phone reception, a layer of wet snow over the car could be interfering. A stinger glass sunroof wouldn't have much effect on signal strength, but put a layer 4" thick of wet snow on top of it and it would be much more like a steel roof. Possible solution = better housekeeping?

the antenna is built to wrong even through walls in parking lots so snow should not interfere at all.
