Tips for getting OBD2 Connection through firewall

So I got my JB4 a few days ago and I want to install it this weekend. I'm still waiting for spark plugs that are on back order. I will only be running map 1 most likely or just stay in map 0 until I can swap out the plugs.

I went out there a little while ago just to check out how I was going to try to install everything and I was wondering about the OBD2 connection. I am having trouble picturing being able to access the brake boost cover on the firewall inside the engine bay. What have people been doing to make this easier? Should I be removing the ECU? Coat hanger trick? Any tips on this will be appreciated. Thank you!

You just push it out from under the dash, run wire, push it back in under the hood. Takes 30 seconds.

I think the issue I might have is fitting my hand down there. There is no room to get down there to push that grommet out of the way.

This is very easy took me 3 or 4 minutes tops. But if you have monster hands your in for more of a challenge. I managed to poke it through from the inside to the engine bag and then simply reached in with my hand by the ECU and grabbed it and easily pulled it through. And just gap your stock plugs to .026 and you'll be good it go.

So I got down there this morning to try to push through that grommet only to find out it is taped up. Is this an OEM thing? I was thinking maybe the previous owner maybe taped it up?

There is tape in the general area but the grommet still pushes out.

Either way you can always use the door jamb method in a pinch.

Thank you for the help Terry. I got it installed, It honestly was not that bad. I did a few pulls in it and yeah I can definitely feel the power increase.

I also have a quick question on the phone app for the logs. Do the logs not save locally on the phone? Meaning if I didn't extract then email them before shutting the vehicle off do I lose them?

Logs are saved while app is open and remain on the phone under the "logs" tab.

If I were to close the app will it delete them? I just got back from driving around a bit and I was logging a few pulls for some diagnostics to see how it was handling the extra power. I was going to look at the logs and possibly send them in but there is nothing in the logs tab.

Either you have not set the app to automatically log, or you've left the option selected to combine multiple logs in to one file, but there isn't an initial log there for it to add on it.

I used needle nose pliers to grip the connector and push it through. It worked super well!
