Amber - switchback (blinking) function
Power

Are there actually 2 lenses/LED strips? Or is it an optical illusion that the lights appear to be amber when used in blinking mode? Is it just orange-bleed from the turn signals?

One led strip, they change colors to amber when they blink. One circuit board, one line of leds

This type of LEDs are called switchbacks. That basically means that you have two light colors, white and amber within the same strip. One diode produces the white light (DRL) and another diode produces the amber (Blinker), again everything within the same light strip. Hope this clears the confusion.

Like a dual core processor, 2 cores on one chip but in this case 2 diodes on each individual led chip:) and there are roughly 40 chips/80 diodes which is almost twice what the cheaper strips have:)

Ok, thanks. I am familiar with that type of LED setup, it's just hard to see from a general shot of the product that there are two separate LED types on the strip.

If you're planning a Black Friday group buy, let me know :-)

An update on the yellow wire that I thought was for the factory drl on/off is not the correct wire. @Chris71 will update everyone with the correct wire to use

Guy the factory DRL wire is the Light Grey located on pin 10 of the harness, which is right below the Yellow wire.
The yellow wire, which is pin 9, is for the Parking lights.

Here is the reason why we went with the ignition wire and not the DRL wire (Light grey)

1. The factory DRL only come ON when there is enough ambient light outside to keep the headlight OFF, as long as you have the switch on your stack set to AUTO.
2. Once the sensor detects that there is not enough light outside it will turn ON the headlights (if you have the stack on AUTO). This will cut the 12v signal going to the factory DRL (light grey wire) and switch it to the parking lights (yellow wire)
3. By switching off the 12v signal from the light grey wire the CK71 DRL will turn off as well.

By using the ignition signal we guarantee the CK71 DRL will remain ON during all situations.
