Lol well I would assume a finger of even a child with bones would have more density than a tiny stick of celery. My guess would be that a carrot is a better mesuring device for this test since it's a lot denser than celery.

Are you going to try a carrot ? my concern is don't want to damage the power mechanism of the window whilst seeing if it " guillotines " the carrot.
I was thinking maybe a small stuffed toy ? or worse, shatters the glass in the window.

While I'm sure it makes for a graphic news clip, vegetables aren't a very accurate analog for a human finger.

Surely somebody out there has a force gauge, so we can see where the windows actually are in relation to the regulation (100 newtons or 22.5 lbs or force)?

I'm having a hard time believing there is near enough force in a power window to sever a finger as they showed, especially with a blunt edge like the rounded top of a window.

Not saying that it didn't happen, but I'd like to see a little more science, and a little less vegetables.

Totally agree. I wasn't asserting/assuming that a child-sized stick of celery is as tough as a child's finger. But I did assume that if the safety mechanism is operating, that the window would not press/clunk shut as if nothing were in the way at all. And that didn't happen. I'm pretty sure that if I stick a carrot stick or thick celery stalk in there, that my windows will cut them off. Of course, I am going to try this again with a carrot, when I actually buy one. (You'd think from this thread, that carrots are unheard of parts of a western diet.)

Good news. I finally did the carrot test and my Stinger passed. As you can see, the thickness approximates my finger. The driver's window bounced up against the carrot and rebounded down until a few inches above fully open. I did this four times. All that happened to the carrot was an almost invisible indent, c. where my middle knuckle is.

Heh! It was the UK that aired that "how to deal with climate crisis deniers" ad; where they are not tolerated in a gathering where climate change solutions are being fielded: instead, the interlocutor pushes a button and blows the denier to bloody bits, spattering all the nearby (shocked) onlookers. I think that one actually aired until objections got it pulled.
