where did you get this info about 700 ft/lb
Kia Stinger Owners group on FB has been spamming me with this number (about 743ft/lb I believe) according to "internal Kia Engineering docs". We know the trans is in-house, but if we look at a similar transmission (ZF 8), it's max torque rating is 738 ft/lb (source).
I don't have the exact number for the Stinger's transmission, but something along these lines would definitely make sense.
View attachment 33627Someone explained more details about this measurement and what it means, but according to this document from Kia the torque capacity is 1000nm or 738ftlbs which is the same as the ZF8 and does make the most sense.![]()
And not to mention you lose the warranty...The problem with these big turbo setups is that the spool up is very late so you're stuck with a 3L NA engine for most of your daily driving, unless you floor it.
Not sure and just re-posted what another member shared before(and what the FB Stinger group is likely referencing), but Id assume since they're connected Kia wouldnt need or make the transfer case handle significantly more torque than the transmission could. That picture says the transfer case has that torque capacity....what about the transmission?
There are much more things that can make you lose itAnd not to mention you lose the warranty...

Just doesn't make sense to buy not the cheapest car, then mod it unless you are a shop trying to prove something. Daily drivers? That's f**king retarded to do.No offense, but this is such a pointless thing to say about heavily modded cars, lol
There are exactly 0 people who looked at the 600WHP thread title and thought, "but what about the warranty?"![]()
The transmission may be highly rated but the torque converter is not, and I know people who broke it several times.View attachment 33627Someone explained more details about this measurement and what it means, but according to this document from Kia the torque capacity is 1000nm or 738ftlbs which is the same as the ZF8 and does make the most sense.![]()

Exactly.I suppose it breaks when you launch using break boost with brake snip mod.

I bet my rock is bigger than your pebbleIts not exactly an expensive car lol. Some people can afford to mod their cars and fix it without significant consequence. Doesn't mean its stupid to do. That's an awfully big rock you live under lol.
Is it just when launching? I rarely launch - and when I do, it'll be without the brake snip (or is that the "break" snip?![]()
When you do brake snip it lauches with boost....when you launch normaly it launches with 0 boost.
Stock LC has no boost, throttle is too low. With launch control it has boost no?
Nope. With launch control it has boost no?
