I know I've seen this post a few times around the interwebs, but all the trim around the doors on these cars gets some significant water spit damage over time. Here are a few shots of the process to repolish.

Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish
Microfiber rag
Lots of elbow grease

From top is untouched, then with one pass and then the final results. Works well. I'd recommend to wax I've the top or polish with something decent.

Luckily I haven’t had any problems with my black chrome yet. Looking to stay on top of it enough to not have any problems

Most of my water spots are on my front grill. I try to wipe it down after a wash but it just never seems to be able to stay clean. Luckily, it looks okay unless you are inspecting it up close. Does anyone have solutions to this? The car is parked outside so obviously moisture and frost are a factor.

All my black chrome is wrapped in PPF, much easier to keep clean.

Once clean (with west coast’s cleaner wax), use a sealant on it.
It won’t spot again.

This may be a dumb question - what kind of sealant?

Doesn’t matter. I’ve used chemical guys jet sealer, McGuire’s tech was 2.0 (which is really a sealer).

I assure you, once you’ve done it and they are clean and sealed, you won’t have difficulty removing stains/spots again.

Make sure you clean the rubber with an isopropyl mixture to remove any excess polish

The trim on one section of my back lid has discolored with water spots. Is this something they will cover with the warranty or do we need to fix it ourselves? Can the trim be replaced? Are there any aftermarket options that replace it with black or black chrome trim?

Only one section has the discoloration.

Mine are exactly the same. Gonna try restoring them with the Cleaner Wax westcoastGT posted. If that doesn't work, off to the dealer to get them replaced which should be covered under warranty. You could try wrapping them black. See this thread as well: Trim looks like crap
