My understanding is that it works the same way the drone app works. Your car is connected to a server, your app is connected to the same server and that is how they talk. Which is why it costs after first 5 years, because they are providing a service on an ongoing basis. It also means if they have technical difficulties you won't be able to remote start your car.
I generally try to avoid stuff that bills me on an ongoing basis but I'll make an exception for this![]()
I've used it a few times already for remotely starting the car. It's convenient for sure though loading the app to starting the car is a little slow overall; typically 40-60 secs.
If you use android see if you can apply a widget to your homescreen. I have mine set to my homescreen so I simply just hit start without opening the app, type in the passcode and signal is sent.
After sent it does take around 30 seconds for the car to actually start.

A widget would be great! I can't find the widget though, nor anything in the UVO app settings mentioning it. Also checked Playstore to no avail. Doesn't seem to be available from Kia. Bummer.
Anyone figured out how to turn on the HVAC remotely? These hot days would love to get into a cool car.
I tried leaving the AC and turning off the car expecting it to be on when I remotely start it but AC is off and I can't find anywhere in the UVO app how to control it. All it shows is a status![]()
When you start the app go to remote services, start engine, on the top right pick custom. From there you can set the temperature of the car(just turn it all the way down for AC), and how long you want the car to run for. You can save it, so next time it will be quicker, submit the command after and it will start. I have 3 settings for my Stinger, Summer/spring/winter
