What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

From memory if you’re in Park the DRLs turn off, even with the engine running. If you shift to D or R they activate again. Posted about it ages ago in the interesting discoveries thread

Also your car looks great. Helps that you got the best colour avaialble :D
Nah...maybe second best. :p

Ahh yes you are right. I did know that at one time. :)

I don't know that that is true. Memory says that I had my car in auto hold in "D" during this picture shoot with @Gordo 's car. I didn't ask about how he left his car standing; both our engines were running, that I do remember.

OMG you are tiring. Yes it’s true. Clearly in that picture your headlights are on not just your DRLs. Also what you’ve described is completely different to what I said because you’re in D. Auto hold is not the same as P.

Bear with me a little bit longer. :P

Something isn't adding up. I've just checked again: the DRLs will not come on (or stay on, by myself I cannot tell) if I leave the vehicle in "D" and auto hold (beside that, I get a ding, ding, ding, ding, and "Shift to P" warning when I open the door: positively, the first time I've noticed this: so my memory of the above is - once again - a "fallible device":P ). DRLs-only are not available in "D" if you leave the vehicle; and they do not stay on either if you put it in "P".

The only way that @Luminary is going to get pics of all her DRLs (without headlights) is to have someone behind the wheel, or get someone to take pics of her car with her behind the wheel.

I don't know how you determined that "D or R" in auto hold works to keep the DRLs on. And I don't have a clue at this point how @Gordo 's DRLs only are on. Btw, eight minutes later, his headlights came on too, as seen in this pic:

@MerlintheMad OEM DRLs will only stay ON when the selector is on AUTO and the parking brake is not engaged. No matter what gear you are in. If the parking brake is engaged the DRLs will turn OFF even if the selector is on AUTO.

AUS spec Stingers don't behave the same way.

Snow...That’s one thing we don’t have to worry about in Perth. Must wreck havoc on your cars.
Yep, I have hopefully a couple more weeks of driving mine before I park it for the winter.

Man, I couldn’t handle that, I love driving mine everyday, all year round.
But I do understand you putting it away, having been to Canada I’ve seen first hand the state of the all year round cars on the road & OMG I’ve never seen so much rust.

I agree with Stinger GT SS. I couldn't handle putting my Stinger away for that long. Like driving it too much for that. Feel sorry for you Canadians.

Thanks, but not all of us are missing out. After years of driving winter 'beaters' and keeping the good cars in the garage, I'm actually looking forward to another winter season of driving in my (AWD) Stinger. :)

We're at the point in the season now where temperatures are getting near zero and snow might actually start to stick around, so I'll switch over from summer to winter tires/rims within the next two weeks. I've also got a pass to a local touchless car wash, so at regular intervals through the winter the car will get treated to an underbody wash to rinse off any clinging road salt.

Properly shod, this is - by far - the most comfortable, best handling, and sure footed winter car I've every had.

How can I "buy a hat"? I really want those vents tho :)
Sorry to tell you (since you apparently don't know) that AV8R is gone. Maybe an Aussie member can share his contact info and you can ask him directly.

This is true, and my Stinger is the most enjoyable in winter since it makes the least amount of unenjoyable noises. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, winter tires, AWD and remote starter make this thing a winter beater - it beats winter!

It's also really nice how quickly the coolant heats up, it is much quicker in this car than any other I have owned. A 10 minute remote start even at -30C has snow melting off the windshield and the interior is quite comfortably warm already. It's just too bad you can't turn on the heated seats with the remote start....silly Kia.
