For the do it yourself oil changers. My car only took a total of 6.75 quarts to get it right at the full mark. FYI right after buying car new I checked the oil several times and it was at least a 1/4" above the full mark. Probably dealer added some. I drained out a little in order to keep it correct. Just wondering if anyone else has seen the same situation.

Has anyone tried extracting oil from above with pump?

Yup. It's a PIA that you have to go underneath to get to the filter cartridge, but still prefer to suck out the old oil thru the dipstick.

For the do it yourself oil changers.

I put back what I took out, and checked and adjusted when done. Simple.

Make sure that you're checking the oil the way KIA recommends to get an accurate oil level reading. The car must be at operating temperature, turn the car off, wait 5 mins, pull dipstick, wipe, reinsert dipstick, pull dipstick, read level.

I did after my first oil change because they put 8 quarts in which put me way over the full line. Ended up pumping out a quart through the dipstick...

Oh for pete's sake, do they really have to use a funny number like that? If you're a DIY'er you have to save a partial quart every time. I may never have to change the oil on my Stinger (they threw the maintenance package in for 100K miles) but still good to know it is an unusual amount.

Penrite in Australia recently started selling their oils in 7L containers. And I've confirmed that their Enviro+ 5W30 is practically perfect for our cars.

It's almost like it was meant to be... :)

How are you removing the oil filter as our RHD stinger have the power stering motor right under it.

Buy 3, 5qt jugs of your favorite synthetic oil and you're good for 2 oil changes. Haha.

Yeah I've never had a car need this much oil.

Really depends on how much you drain out. Level lift vs ramps...etc. mine took just above 6 quarts. Fill it then run the car for a minute or two. Check the level and adjust from there.

I've done two home oil changes this far.
First time I overshot the full line by putting in a full 7 quarts.
Second time I put in 6.25, warmed the engine up then added small amounts until I was just under full (car off ramps).
Still looking for the right oil to quiet the lifter tick on cold starts...

With a Fumoto, it's much easier to drain small amounts.. (don't have one yet, but plan on it eventually)

Just did my fall change (on a car lift), and put in 6.5 liters with the filter change. Ran the engine for a few minutes, shut it off and let it drain back for a bit, and the oil level was dead on the full mark.
