Looking to upgrade my GT2 AWD 19" stock tires/wheels to 255/35/R19 square - wheel width TBD.

Is it considered square because BOTH the offset and wheel width match or just the wheel width?

Browsing through the forums for quite some time and many of the ones who converted to a square setup have the same offset on the front and rear wheels....

My guess is a lot of vendors sell a set of (4) identical wheels since its simpler and it's a mere coincidence instead of "fact of the matter".

And lastly, if i could, would or wouldn't it be advisable to have different offset wheels for the front and rear when going "square" per wheel width.

Thanks!

Offset is only a question of clearance. There isn't any other consideration that I am aware of. Clearance doesn't have to be even. In my case, the front brake calipers are very close to the wheels in front but have plenty of additional clearance in the back. So a different offset shouldn't be necessary as long as everything clears.

I’m running a square setup.
20’x8.5’ +38 with 245/35/20

You don’t need to run different offsets unless you are using different width wheels. Same offset all the way around works fine.

+38 on 8.5 is that flush huh? I guess +35 on 9.0 would poke ever so slightly?

The car isn’t lowered. I went to a 1” larger wheel, but kept the same 35 profile. So the overall diameter is 1” larger and fills the wheel well better without having to lower it.
Hey what slpitter is that up front. Looks grrrreat!
