I have a number of annoying intermittent interior noises in my '18. Some from around the sunroof (no, the velco-push fix didn't help), most are somewhere along the left side. Seem to come and go at random, haven't figured out the combination of temp, climate control, road conditions......

Finally found it last night.

The f'n topmost weather seal on the left rear door creaks/snaps/crackles against the body as the door flexes.

Not sure how to address it yet. Hoping some rubber conditioner helps. Don't want to use rubber grease like on the sunroof because people can/will touch that area.......

If it's happening while you are driving and the door is closed the flex would be coming from the frame of the car not the door.

Eh? The door can move, even when latched. I noticed that any slight movement of the door causes the topmost seal to make crinkle/cracking noises.

All automobile frames flex or twist under stress; large sunroofs, no roof at all and hatchbacks make it worse. There are aftermarket products made specifically to lessen this phenomenon.

Dealership replaced the weather stripping on the driver side door... and it actually made it worse. Finally just bought a can of silicon spray, and been lubing it every couple month.

Isn't this a lesser example of the same problem we've seen illustrated here with pics? Don't recall which thread: but the door trim at the top, where the front and back doors meet, was off by c. quarter of an inch; so much so that the closing door was hanging up. The dealer tightened the door hinges and the misalignment went away. I'm thinking that a door that isn't quite firmly latched could produce noises from the door seals without being visibly loose.
