Ehhh, they should go hybrid. However, I've dug around enough, this chassis definitely wasn't designed with that possibility in mind.

In reality, it would have been too expensive, but if the Panamera was treated as a competitive product then the Stinger GT really should have released as a performance hybrid. That would have not only turned heads, but also helped them maintain "current" generation fad of electric drive options.

Well, if they decide not to build a second gen then those of us who own the first gen really will have a nice future one of a kind collectible. Hopefully.

I'd have an issue in the reduction of manufacturer vehicle support, though, lol... And I'd also have a hernia putting any miles on it in a case like this.

Too much stress, hope they build a second gen

From the article:

Kia Stinger sales in Australia are also running at about half the rate forecast and demand is down compared to this time last year, although it is the second-biggest seller in the large-car class behind the Holden Commodore and ahead of the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Skoda Superb.

Of course sales are slow. They're not marketing/advertising the Stinger worth a damn, and the pricing strategy is wrong.

I remember early discussions from Kia that this platform was capable of embracing hybrid/E

oh yeah, can't wait for the boring 4 pot engine coupled to electric motor with higher weight worse handling higher price and zero pizzaz. Only the V8 would make it better. Full electric? Even MORE weight and price and handle like a ton of bricks and take forever on recharge etc ad nauseum. I'm a PETROL HEAD and proud of it..

Shame if this actually happens. This is what happens when the only people who buy a car are out of the box thinkers who want something different. Do not follow the shepherd my friends for thou art not sheep.

Interesting to hear the entire car is conceptualized, designed and championed in Germany by KIA Germany and Alfred Bierman from BMW. Agree with Manaz they have done a very poor job marketing the Stinger and supporting it. KIA dealerships can't justify inventory of $50k Stingers when most of the cars they sell are well below $35K and all the advertising support goes to the lower end models; when is the last time you saw an ad for a K900? It's neat but kind of a shame that the Stinger has been around two years and most people still don't even know what it is.

If it was cheaper and faster than a Tesla, then heck yes.... just to piss off a few Tesla owners

Cheaper? Without question. Faster? No. The Taycan can't beat a P100D Model S. I don't really care whether it can match up with a Taycan.....I just want ridiculous amount of torque to leave all those cocky AMG/M drivers in the dust.

So will the G70 be discontinued also since its sales are nowhere near 1500 per month in the US??

Good question , Genesis have 3 SUVs in the works , launching over the next year or 2 , thats where all the growth is and where they will likely spend the majority of the AP $$ , Kia has the same dilemma with huge sales and interest in their SUV line up ( note the huge success of the Telluride which staddles the Stinger GT price point ) and they have more larger and smaller SUV/crossovers in the plan . Maybe the Stinger has done its job of creating awareness for the brand and increased the equity a bit , certainly with auto journalists !! I think its a matter of getting their respective portfolios in balance , as an example BMW dove straight into expanding their footprint in the crossover/suv segment having positions from X1- X7 , despite declining sales of their 3,4,5,6 and 7 series I doubt they will discontinue them . They have culled out a few slow sellers like their GTs though ...........If the Stinger doesnt make it to Gen 2 , good for all of us for being early adopters and able to enjoy being part of Kia's transition ! I'm OK with that .................but I'm betting they will continue with it to keep a toe in the segment ( and not to piss off Albert and Peter !! )
