New 3.3L Catback option(s)

That depends where in the UK. Plenty of snow about in some areas.

I thought there was only rainy clouds over the UK :laugh:

I'm in the greater Toronto area lol. Sorry about the confusion.

My car and I will be in Toronto this coming weekend for Caribana! What is fuel looking like in North Detroit? 91 only? e85 availability?

1) I got one of those "lifetime warranty" muffler replacements in the 90s on my '84 Jetta GLI. The mufflers were fine - the (*&@# aluminized pipes rusted through every 2 winters, and of course, those weren't covered. This was while living in Kitchener/Waterloo. If you're in Ontario, IMHO, SS is the ONLY option.

2) @Pnbnationsbest Toronto should have minimum 92 everywhere. With a bit of looking, 93 and 94 can be found - at least that's how it used to be 15 years ago when I lived in that area. No idea about E85, though..

In Canada, there isn't anything between 91OCT & 94OCT gas. 94OCT can be found at some Petro-Canada, Chevron & Husky gas station. That's it. No 92, no 93 and 94 are not very common (search on their website to find a gas station near you that sells 94OCT gas).

In my life, I've never seen E85 gas being offered at any station I've been all across the country. Of course, I haven't been to ALL of them, hahaha, but I dont think there's any gas station that offers E85 in Canada.

oh nice! Enjoy and be safe! 93 can be found at Petro Canada in the Greater Toronto areas scarce in the downtown area. Cities that you may pass by are Missisauga and etobicoke, they should have 94 at Petro Canada's. 93 is next up at Esso which is like Mobil1 and then you've got Shell which caps off at 91 ethanol free.

See! Didn't even know there was 93OCT gas anywhere in Canada. It's like they say : you can't know everything! #sorryaboutthat

Yeah the websites are kind of messed up. They isn't show where the 93 are for essos. I've got a few in my area but the map doesn't show it. Only reason Petro has some is due to them buying sunoco a while back and they had 94

I guess things do change - I thought one of PetroCan/Shell/Esso used to sell 92 back in the 90s/2000s. Sunoco was 94, Husky 93.

I haven't come across a 92 from what I can remember. I haven't gassed at husky. I can't remember who they replaced but I always end up at an Esso, Petro, or shell.

MY MBRP (SS) EXPERIENCE

FINALLY !!! Took 5 weeks for the exhaust to be made, it arrived intact from MBRP, I am quite pleased, the box was not even bruised haha

Very very well packaged, compare to my previous system on other cars , I must say that Canadian do it the right way

It had foam and bubble wrap, should have taken pics of that ! The piping is amazing, easy instructions, clamps are great !

Our OEM system is heavy , specially the mufflers !

Since it is a bolts on system, I borrowed a friend’s hoist and took my time, give it take two hours, to find the right tools, trim a bit of plastic for the tips and triple checking my bolts.

I am not super mechanically inclined person so it is definitely doable, two person job if you want someone to help guide the pipes.

If you decide to do the exhaust yourself, it is going to be tricky on ramps but possible, hoist was definitely nice to have, plus you get more room to maneuver and get to see the underneath of the car.

Tips: use some grease or silicone on the hangers otherwise you will fight with them to be taken off…the oem are on sooooooo tightly in there.

I will make some videos soon, however for whoever is wondering, this exhaust system is SUPER MINT ! it is definitely not obnoxious , doesn’t sound like a fart exhaust … it i subtle at low rpm and idle, nice little grown to it ! in ECO, love how you can hear all the gear shifting, it is a very nice sound at 6am around the neighbourhood, you can creep your way in/out without disturbing everyone. Still, you will have nice loud-ish rumble.

Comfort is a tad louder than ECO and if you want to really hear the growls and deep tone, push it in SPORTS … amazing sound all around !

I have done two (very small though) highway trips and I can report that with my tips set up , I do not have any type of drone in the cabin, nothing that gives me a headache. The hummm of the exhaust note is tamed, I have turned off the Active Engine Sound too.

Cold start is a little bit louder but that expected and it tams down after 45s once the engine calms and then you get a nice exhaust tone !

Overly I am VERY happy with this exhaust, it is giving me a beafier sound than the OEM set up, the “Helmholtz chamber” are definitely doing their job, I love the set up and most definitely recommend it !

The MBRP doesn't come with the extensions and clamps for the tips, does it? Where did you source everything from?

Can't wait for videos!!

Some people mentioned needing to trim the bumper to get them to fit, looks like yours were pushed through, did you have to make any cuts?

I'm guessing yes since he said he had to trim a bit of plastic for the tips.

used some fine paper sand grits, from the inside, mostly bottom and top of the tip, I definitely didn't want to trim much so I did enough (you can tell on the inside pictures where the clamps are), so I just did enough and push the tips in until I like how much they were protruding of the bumper/diffuser.
