• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Perhaps coincidentally, but since Autobarn got their hands on my Stinger and damaged the duco & plastic while fitting a dash cam recently, I've had intermittent issues with the bi-modal exhaust.

Occasionally it will randomly become “loud” like it thinks I’m doing over 3000rpm (when it’s supposed to “open up”). This can last for maybe 15-30 minutes or more. This morning I was doing 40k’s (gotta love the new CBD restrictions in a city of 100,000), went round a roundabout then it started getting nice and loud. I started the car a few hours later and no problems at all!

It’s starting to annoy me since I checked the fusebox after it first started a few weeks ago and seemed to have been resolved but this morning it’s baaaaaack.

Anyone else experienced this or know what to look for? It’s in for warranty work (again) on Thursday but given the record of people damaging my car, don’t want the dealer to pull the whole dash/console apart unnecessarily. Compounding it, I’m off to Adelaide soon and want it sorted before I hit the highway.

Cheers!

I think you'll find a post on here about a faulty bi-modal valve. That could be it. But a full guess.
If you disconnect it I would expect default is closed (quiet) so you can drive around until you can get dealership to sort it.

I would say faulty solenoid

Looks like I'm going to keep the local Kia dealership quite busy with the issues they have to fix lol.

they fixed a rattle under the dash and now all of a sudden the HUD is rattling and they've told me they have to order a new one in and replace that completely...not sure why they need to replace the whole unit rather than just secure it but anyway.

I'll post more info on the bimodal when I take it back to the dealership to get them to look into it. The problem is it's so intermittent, they might not even be able to find a fault

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
A new HUD because of a rattle!!! WTF!!!
