Is anyone else having issues defrosting windshield wipers?
Looks like wiper idle position is too low to be picked up by air blower from the inside, so they remain frozen solid even after running defroster for 10 minutes. See attached picture.
I know some Kia cars have a heated element down in the wiper bay, but mine is either non-functional or non-existent. The owner's manual doesn't mention anything about that, so Kia might have simply dropped the ball on this.

Geez... I hope not... I have a heated garage and have not had to deal with this... yet... Any other northern climate Stinger owners have experience on this out there?

Hey there, I'm from just outside Toronto. It's not too cold here, but the weather can be tricky with freezing rain or wet snow. Which is why this issue concerns me greatly.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was wondering if there supposed to be some kind of release position to get them off the windshield. It'd be pretty stupid if you have to open the hood to change wipers.

There generally is a way to access the blades. You could use the service mode as a "winter" position.

Welcome aboard, @liho1eye! Thank you for signing up. Which Stinger model did you get? Which color? And what did it replace?

There is a heated zone under the wipers.
It's on the glass like the rear window.
It starts with the rear window heat button...

Hi there, I got a black GT Limited (GT2 in the states) with red interior. Replaced a 2015 BMW 228i.

That's what I assumed a modern car would have, but I don't see it, and it's clearly not working.

Ok, so can any of the Stinger owners please confirm if they can see the heating element on the windshield, down in the wiper bay?

I really would like to understand if this is a general omission, a regional one or specific to my build.

I just checked mine and dont see it , but I'll check out the defrost and see if it activates anything up front ...........seems strange they wouldnt account for this , especially given all the cold weather testing they did

There are some cars, I think Subaru is one that have heater elements at the area where the wiper rest to heat the area do defrost the blades if you park outside and it snows.

Yep kids new Jeep has it as well. And believe it or not it is also automatically enabled if the temp is below 33 degrees.. no need to turn on the rear defroster, which seems odd. Why wouldn't the front defroster enable it?

From a previous post... I have yet to try...
Tried this last night and can confirm it works... I took a quick glance to see if I could see some sort of heat element in windshield... I couldn't see anything... but it was kind of dark outside... can anyone see proof of heat element for front wipers?

There may be no heater for the wipers ... however you can put them in Service mode as a "Winter" mode. My Jag had a winter mode setting, and when the temp was below 3deg's C when you turned the car off, the wipers moved into the same location as service mode. This meant that snow wouldn't sit on top of the wipers and the blades were on the heated screen section.

Kia build this feature since 2003 in the cars with a bit higher trim.
The stripes in the stinger are so deep that they are not visible from inside.
Outside is not possible to see because of the black frame ...
