Went to the dealership for my first oil change and talked to my salesman.

The GT2 is being driven by the dealership sales manner. You can get the same deal I got (41.5k) and I spent a total of an hour and a half closing, no muss no fuss. My car has every option, including the red nappa leather interior. It has about 1500 on the odometer.

The dealership is located in the middle of road construction which has killed them, so my guy is very motivated to make a sale. He was great to deal with.

This is Fort Bend Kia, 20 minutes outside of Houston.

Is it being sold as new or used?

New, I think

It's a shame that's he's piling miles up on a new car. I can understand why they'd have a hard time selling it.

I don't think they will have a hard time selling it, especially with the red Nappa interior. Where can you get this level of luxury and performance for $41.5k?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

You said the deeply discounted price and their motivation to sell cheap is due to them having a hard time moving cars due to nearby construction.

Those two posts contradict each other.

Regardless, putting miles on someone's potential new car isn't a good way to gain a customer. Maybe the hard times they're facing are from other factors. Poor management, perhaps...

Thats outrageous.
How can they drive someone else's future NEW car?? 1500 miles wtf...

It's not uncommon for a Service Manager to have exclusive use of a vehicle and also use as a demo. KIA warranty starts from when the vehicle was originally registered.

A Demo model is just that, a " Demo " and we know it is not classed as " brand new " but the OP is saying that the manager is clocking up the miles and still selling it as " new " which to me is wrong. My car was brand new, when we drove it home it had 9 kms on the clock.

Not in the original post, and in the second he really didn't know.

It's still considered new because the warranty only starts when the car is purchased. Everything will be +10years and +100k miles from the date of purchase, even if it has 5k miles already (warranty will then go to 105k)

Doesn't work that way in AUS, warranty starts from date of original registration.

Same here in the states.
Demo cars are still dealer property and are unregistered, therefore considered "new" and the warranty hasn't started ticking down.

When I was shopping for my stinger, two of the cars I looked at were demos with 3K miles on them (of course they never advertise them this way). I did not buy them because the mileage discount was not enough for a car with 3K miles, but this one seems to be a good deal.

As per my dealer told me, you can't lease a demo car. So bye bye to lease incentive. Lease buyout would be cheaper than demo.

I have pretty much the same car, fully loaded with the red Nappa interior. I am thrilled at what I got for $41.5 k. I paid more than twice that for my other cars and I enjoy this car every bit as much. If you do not like this car for that price then I doubt that any car is going to please you.

Yeah, sounds like a good price. 1,500 miles isn't excessive if the warranty starts there. Given everything else is "perfect", you'll never notice any difference. We're talking years down the road. That's still a new car: and it doesn't sound like anybody's trying to pull a fast one.

Here is what it came down to for me: I had to have the V6, the Brembos, the HK stereo, and the Nappa leather. With these I would have paid $2 k more. Getting exactly what I want in this car is worth more than the $41.5 k that I paid. I buy cars and keep them for a while. Over that amount of time I will get way more than a couple grands worth from these upgrades.

If I were buying German (or high end Japanese) the stereo upgrade alone cost more than $4k. You can easily pay an extra $10k to get the type of extras that my car, and this car are coming with. Not to mention, these cars are also starting at much higher price points.

The whole process of buying my car took only an hour and a half. And yes, buying a car that the GM or Sales manger drove for a bit is common if you look for it. That is one of the first things I do when I buy a car. I got $6k off my Equus that way.

And yes, warranty does not start until you buy the car.
