3.3TT Mishimoto's Stinger GT Intercooler Kit R&D Thread

stop teasing these guys NICK!!!

But you guys make it so easy! :p But actually, we love your guys' enthusiasm for this platform and greatly appreciate you following along with our product development! We're still working on a full production sample as we speak! I'll have some more info on exactly what we're planning in the next few weeks!

Hi,

we have all seen a stock Stinger intercooler, is it possible to see YOUR intercooler?

thanks for your consideration.

LMFAO, this is LITERALLY what I was about to post!:rofl:
.

Great minds think alike

But you'll be able to see ours soon enough! We just want to be sure that everything is perfect before we make the big reveal for you guys!

@Mishimoto this is exactly why I'm glad you guys are in on this car...taking a critical look at the important parts of the system...can't wait...

Much appreciated! We just want to make sure that we're delivering on the best performance that we can to you!

I'm not 100% sure of the details, but apparently it could also be used to inject extra E85..

Hmm that is very interesting, and something we'll have to take a look at

Based on the reveal of the 420 Stinger  and the fact that Kia's only cooling upgrade was to the trans cooler, I'm very interested in those future options.

I was actually just reading about that! Strange that they didn't do much for the cooling system at all, but I know we'll definitely be able to help out with the intercooling system ;)

Why create a R&D thread if you refuse to show the product until its "perfect". Isn't the point of a R&D/Development thread to show the progress and design of the thing before you hit the final product development?

Just trying to put a teaser out there, generate "hype", keep people from buying a competitive product.

I think they will get more hype if they were creating a solution for something that has not been created for the Stinger yet.

Too much teasing actually kills the hype.

Agreed, but more because they have literally shown us absolutely nothing. Hype with no actual substance is a real confidence killer, lol

tough crowd, critics aplenty...the fact that there are companies doing R&D on a new platform that hasn't exactly broken sales records is a good thing...I'd rather buy a product that has been thoroughly understood, studied, and tested vs. something hastily put out there.

Let's clarify their "hype" thread critique:

They haven't shown that they thoroughly understood, studied, or tested anything. ;)

Hell, if we saw a single pic of a sheet where they dyno tested and showed a 15 degree IAT drop and nothing else, that would be substance. If they showed a side cutaway of the bar and plate fin core design that they're using, and it showed high density, or even turbulators, that would be substance.

I'm not critiquing, I'm saying that this is all talk with nothing to show for it. They should have waited until they had something to show (not the finished product) to create this thread, lol... Then they make it worse by showing a super dark pic of just the very end of a charge pipe, and then the bumper removed showing the stock intercooler, and it's like "wat." o_O

Again, tough crowd...I haven't seen one manufacturer/vendor on here that didn't do the same, if not worse. mostly worse...

Show me worse, lol

I think the worst offender still showed substance: LAP3 did a full on turbo swap, provided prototype pics, and even posted dynos. And yet, none of us after them having it installed for 20k miles now are allowed to order it. There are only a few more test cars running it, and not a peep about anywhere to throw money to get a set. I think THAT'S the worst offender: showing us what we can have, and then not letting us have it

I can think of many who show pics of pre production models or some intermediate results.
BMS, Tork, Wagner, Lap3, etc.

I am not hating on the product or the manufacturer, but every time I see there is an update on this thread and I come to check it out I am like wtf...

@xot1 @ZyroXZ2 well, let's see...stillen (intake, exhaust, splitter), agency (for intakes and intercooler), off the top of my head...but I've been in the tuning scene since before internet forums so not a huge deal to me (as my nieces and nephews call it "the stone age"). At least they respond, unlike the ones previously mentioned! lol...and if you ever read those threads, it was brutal lol...vendors would just disappear leaving us as the only ones updating their threads!hahaha

Fair point. If I may, let me rephrase that. There were a few things that came up that might change the design slightly, and we just wanted to be sure that that was sorted before moving forward.

That said, we will have some more info on what we're cooking up here very soon!

I think they will get more hype if they were creating a solution for something that has not been created for the Stinger yet.

We are exploring some other cooling products! I'll keep you guys in the loop on those as we dive deeper

So, the reason we don't have any data yet is simply because we don't have a testable unit just yet. Basically, there's a lot of moving parts when it comes to engineering an intercooler, especially when it involves a full piping kit too. It does take a good amount of time and you guys are basically watching the development in real time at this point. I know it's a long and sometimes frustrating process, but we greatly appreciate you guys following along and your patience. It'll be worth the wait, Promise!

We're still a little ways out on having some data for you guys, BUT I will be compiling the content for a blog update on what we have planned for this intercooler kit in the coming weeks

So you're planning on releasing more information on what you're planning to release. Was that planned?

You're asking too much details IMHO.
