Wrap your Stinger

I live in Arizona. We tend to get many rock chips out here. Especially if what you’re driving has a low front end. So I have my Stinger in the shop right now getting the front end wrapped with the clear Sun Tec vinyl. Has anyone else out here done the same? I hope this stuff is does what they claim. I am only wrapping the grill, full hood, headlights, and the mirrors for now. I’ll let you all know how it comes out.

Hi. After three months, I had the entire front, to the windshield, done. I have 3M. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. No more rock chips. Fortunately, I haven't been hit by anything large enough to impact the PPF. If/when I do, I plan on using a hair dryer to smooth it out.

When I bought mine, the dealership included 10yr/100000mi paint protection. They'll fix rock chips for free, as long as I take it to the dealership to have it done. Otherwise I'd have ordered a roll of the 3M film and wrapped it one afternoon when I could get into my buddy's air conditioned garage to do it.

What's even more fun than the rock chips are the morons with unsecured loads. Flattened cardboard boxes flying out of the bed of the truck in front of you scuff the crap out of your headlight lenses at 75mph on the 202. Just sayin'.

I drive the 202 between the 101 and Greenfield 5 days a week. The rocks destroyed the front of my Civic. Not this time. I was going to have the fenders done also. We paid cash for the car, so had to cut back some. When is my birthday.......

I was supposed to pick up my car Saturday morning. The owner of the tint shop called me and told me the hood ended up with a big wrinkle down the side of it. He was not happy with his guy. Evidently he used the end of the roll. So I won’t get my car back until tomorrow. The owner guaranteed me it would be perfect. I hope so.

I got my car back yesterday from the wrap shop. The hood after they replaced the vinyl, came out flawless. The vinyl on the grill, I think it could have come up a little higher (to the hood) by about 3/16". I am a quality control inspector (for the last 40+ years), could be that I am just looking at it with anal eyes. I can't wash it yet so no pictures till this weekend. The shop I used (Fast Lane Tints) did not save me any $$ but I don't mush care about that. I think it is rare to step up and admit that the first go-round did not come out right. They fixed it did a great job. It's called integrity.

. I’m not following the part about the grill not coming up enough. Are you saying they didn’t full cover the front fascia? Leaving a gap (of paint) between their wrap cut line and the hood?

That's annoying looking. A consistent gap would be one thing, but it doesn't even look like it was put on straight.

Looks like crap...or something I tried to do in an Ambian sleepwalk.....get the whole thing done over .... the rest of the wrap on the hood looks like crap too...... Wash

That is not acceptable.

Hey washguy, there is no picture of the hood. The only paint you can see in the picture is between the grill and the hood. The hood came out quite flawless. I took the picture in between rain drops yesterday. They said not to wash it for a couple of days, then for sure. I hate a dirty car. I just sent the shop owner a picture of it and told him I am not happy. I am sure he will want to fix it...

The shop got back to me within an hour after me contacting him. He said absolutely he wants to fix it. So I will take it in Monday. Again Integrity

I took the car back this morning. They did not “patch” it. They cut a new piece and replaced the entire section. No precut. It came out perfect. The owner said “It’s all about customer service”. Fast Lane Tints in Scottsdale. Good people, great attitudes. If you are looking, call them.

So just a little opinion here. I would not accept anything other than wrapped edges. I settled for cuts on my optima and it drove me insane trying to clean that edge. With how easy the front fascia is to remove on this car, there shouldn't be any excuse not to.

The ridge below the side scoops is so extreme that the film must give somewhere. On a car at the dealer last year I saw that the forward edge of the ridge was uncovered. On mine, it was a triangular piece directly below the scoop, rather large, actually. I called the PPF guy back to my house and he inserted separate pieces into the open triangles. Like a surgeon, he was.

Last Thursday, I discovered with my fingertips two other spots up underneath. Heh, it's been over a year! But I only "saw" them now.
