New 3.3L Catback option(s)

@JP's_Stinger are you in Quebec ?
the secDP or most commonly called the downpipe (since almost no one touches the actual primaries) are an easy swap and shouldnt impact whatsover your warranty, there is no OE sensor or anything from those dp to the cat , it just a simple swap, you should be fine.

Yes I am. I know about all that, but it still an antipollution system. The result will surely be more emission and for that only they could be warry, couldn't they? Also, what about the increase in air flow behind the turbo...could they say the ECU isn't calibrated for it and that it can cause premature damage to some of the engine's components?

What did the dealer said about the secCat delete? My dealer told me they were totally OK with a Catback, but I haven't asked about a SecDP...
I didn't ask the dealer, I only go there for my free oil changes at the moment. I don't see any reason why the secondary cat removal would cause any issues. I have Injen intakes as well guess we will see next oil change.

so not sure about Quebec ... but in Nova Scotia, I was told no issue with replacing the midpipe, the one 99% of owners are touching. (or downpipe hehe we keep switching) or exhaust.

BTW, after calling every single authorized dealer in my province, MBRP found me one dealer who gave me a great price and will be able to get the exhaust delivered for end of July :thumbup::thumbup: !! Not bad considering there is no stock in Canada right now ! Count me in for this mod for August ! :cool::cool::cool:

Started a new thread so people would not confuse my set up with just the catback. I uploaded a couple clips on youtube in the thread.
My IG: @purple_riced if anyone cares to follow :)

Did a bit more driving today, yes there's drone. Especially under light throttle. There's a steep hill coming into my subdivision with a 35 mph speed limit. I never found myself needing to upshift to mitigate exhaust noise until today.

Sounds great under heavy throttle though.

@ecko04
compared to the stock exhaust, what would you rate the discomfort level ?
one member said that all aftermarket exhaust will produce some drone but Iam just wondering how this exhaust stands out in that aspect...

I'm going to hold off on giving any particular rating. I have an idea to reduce the drone that i'm going to try out tomorrow and get back to you. Guess i'll be getting out my jig after all.

Are you going to use the easy anti-drone fix ascidiic and I posted? Eliminated almost all of our drone and only cost $11.99 and some elbow grease.Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion#679 and see ascidiics video about the fix.:thumbup:

It wasn't right next to the exhaust. It was on an articulating tri-suction cup mount off the rear quarter panel.

Baseline decibel readings using a really high end reader from amazon for $20 (sarcasm). I’m sure +/- 5 dB easily.

I got hosed and still have no eta even though I was a very early purchaser through a known vendor. Paid June 1. Still nada. No longer willing to wait. Instead will have the borla by Friday. I’d rather have it loud af rather than possibly disappointingly quiet as some have suggested. I’ll still post my post install decibel levels in the borla thread. Sorry y’all.

too bad they didnt keep you posted on the ETA
I wouldn't shut down the door on MBRP and say it is a quiet exhaust ...

It's worth considering that, depending on your needs, you might _want_ to get a quiet exhaust and then expect it to get a little louder when you install catless secondaries :)

Pro Tip (at least until one of you spoils it), create an account on Import Image Racing, make sure your email address is correct. Login with your account. Add the MBRP to your shopping cart, proceed through the checkout just short of entering your payment information. Close the browser.

Wait for an email that looks like the 1st attachment below. The timeframe for when the email will come varies.

Reply to the email saying you’d like to save money but do not be an a**hole. Don’t respond like you’re talking to a Craigslist seller. Don’t give an ultimatum like $700 shipped. Just say you’d like to save money and wait for a reply. You’re not talking to a bot; these are real people with access to inventory levels.

Here’s the reply I received, granted I already have one, but still. $949.99 to $889, a savings of $60! IIR does collect sales tax so most of my savings would be go to taxes but still a savings nonetheless. Moddiction does not collect tax. Both are offering free shipping (at least in the lower 48) and I would assume Canada as well since they are drop shipped from MBRP in Quebec.

Just for reference, I ended up going with the Borla catback, and I'm quite happy with it. The MBRP required shipping ($200 for freighting it in) as it wasn't stocked yet, and i didn't want to wait till late August for it to be in stock to avoid the freight pricing, so I went with Borla. Sounds great, and I have no idea what "Drone" people on here are referencing... I'm starting to wonder if the majority of stinger owners are newer to the "tuner" world and haven't owned an STI, EVO, Golf R or so on before... lol. There is literally no drone cruising, and I suspect this MRBP kit is the same.

Good to know! Where did you order your Borla from?

CANADIAN STINGERS :cool: :cool::cool:
on the MBRP website, you can find the authorized dealer.
I found one in my province that could get the exhaust for end of july, so 4 weeks wait time. no shipping fees (though we pay taxes...) ended up being $1050 + tax (814USD without taxes)
