Strapped on a dynodynamic today for a few baseline runs before installing my JB4/denso plugs.

This dyno dynamics was tested vs a dynojet the same day before by a bmw 135i guy, and reads about 10% lower.

I made 301whp. I supposed that's pretty good considering it's basically stock and AWD.

I'm not super into the numbers but more the results of the JB4 when I retest again in a couple weeks.

Finally got to the dyno after jb4 install.

Map 2 with fuel wires. 91 octane shell. 33whp pick up..... Kinda disappointing.

That is disappointing. I need to get to a dyno to check mine as well. Wonder if this is the case across the board for Stingers at higher elevation and Canadian fuel. Where did you get the dyno done?

I went to airboy tuning. Try ecu program. They have the other awd dyno in town.

Hmm, that is disappointing, I'm sure I've seen bigger gains on map2.

Vex Performance has an AWD dyno as well (specialize in Subies) but they really don’t like Burger Tuning. Told me the JB4 was just a glorified boost controller that might make 20 whp. This is based on their dynos on BMWs with JB4’s.

They are pretty biased...mine feels a hell of a lot faster!

Tuning is a details business. With load dynos you need to compare same day results between map0 and map2.

You'd need JB4 logs of the dyno runs to evaluate the results and see what boost and timing are doing in areas where power didn't increase as expected.

The chart you posted only has torque and AFR.. I see torque went up almost 60wtq in areas so that is good. I suspect the boost is there and where you're dropping off power is on timing advance due to the lower grade fuel. I'd want to check IAT in the log also to see if it's getting proper airflow.

I also ran map 1 vs 2. Didn't try 0.

Map 1 was about 15hp less.

I didn't even think about logging as I've done street logs on the same fuel and map. I had you look at them before and you said they looked good.

Vex doesn't have a Dyno. The Dyno I used is airboy. He leases space out of vex. So it's the same one you are thinking about.

Just some thoughts....dyno-dynamics are notoriously harsh on the ego. The bmw chart shown is from 2013 by they way.

If you state 10 lower on a DD that puts you around 330 stock (no jb4) just right. I see your in Calgary...3000 da? I’d subtract another 4-5 percent from altitude loss, maybe more with heat soak....also Calgary runs ethanol later into the year than other areas, that may affect things as well. I’m guessing if you tried that pull on an Ontario mustang dyno with local shell 94 you’d be pretty pleased with your results. Just my thoughts.

Seems like something's wonky. I ended up with 382 at the wheels on a kinda crap pull (wrong gear, for one), baseline is typically about 315 whp I think (someone correct me if the crack is addling my brain). So next gain almost 70. Differences: intakes and ~95 octane. But I'm at very close to sea level... maybe that's a bigger factor?

Which map?

I thought elevation doesn't affect turbo cars as much as NA cars.

Trying to recall. 2 or 3. Now that you mention it, probably 3.

How can it be the fuel, BMS tested Map 2/91 octane with BMS intakes (same as you) and made 416whp.

The OP said he used Shell 91 which contains NO ETHANOL.

Seems like you have a power loss of roughly 82whp or close to 100 crank hp.

Did you install the fuel wires/correctly???

Different dyno and elevation. DO we know if the dyno was set up correctly for the stinger?
