Ceramic GT2 AWD for 46k?

I was getting online quotes for a Ceramic GT2 AWD with red interior. MSRP according to the dealership is $55,010. Their online pricing was $46,531. How much more can I push it? I am following up to see what the breakdown is of their $8,479 dealer savings to see if there are portions I don't qualify for.

New England. I confirmed it is including the Conquest cash which I qualify for as well as the military discount that I do not. Price seems closer to $47k. Would it be out of reality to shoot for $43k out the door? What is a realistic price?

Welcome, Tom. That price, OTD, already sounds realistic to me. MY19s are not going for dealer discounts of ten percent off, just yet. $43K sounds outrageously low.
 
Just went to test drive for the first time. Loved the car. Dealer quoted me $55,000 out the door for a Ceramic GT2. Seems outrageously high.

"My" dealer said $2,995 off MSRP up front, first thing, before I even said I was buying. And their MSRP was spot on, not jacked up first.

MSRP on the GT2 was listed as $54,440. They told me the could discount it to $53,540 which leaves them only $400. Probably not true. They took off $2000 in competitive cash and then added in $4166.63 in tax, title, reg and doc fees. Final price was $55,706.63.

I test drove a GT1 that was on the lot and it qualified for an additional $2000 VIN rebate. That one would be out the door at $46,757.88, which also does not seem like a deal at all.

I have been talking with a larger dealership 2 hours away that have $8-10k discounts listed on their site which no doubt include all possible incentives. I'll see if I can do better there.

Invoice on gt2 awd is like 48000 if I recall.

Make sure you see the itemized list of tax, title, reg and fees. They snuck some bullchit $699 dealer fee on mine before I caught it.

Beware the advertised yooge dealer discount. Those numbers are meant to drag you in. Then the price upping starts for "this, that and the other thing". :rolleyes:

Imho, price is moot: if you want the car, can afford to pay for it, haggling over a killer deal is an entirely different thing than getting a Stinger. As long as the dealer isn't jacking the price over MSRP, I'm good. If I have to haggle down in order to barely afford to buy/lease at all, then (again, imho) I should not be buying in the first place.

Knowing the Invoice price is certainly useful information. Leads me to believe there is a lot of meat left on the bone at the price I was given. They could technically go down to $48,000 minus incentives and rebates and still have some profit in there with dealer holdback and whatever other mechanism they have for hiding the profit.

It takes almost no effort to get at LEAST 2k off MSRP. The dealers must love when people come in saying “yep... MSRP sounds fair. Thank you sir may I have another ?”

The point is, a couple thousand when you're talking over thirty thousand, isn't anything to get worked up about. Either you want the car or you don't care that much. If you want the car, then making a killer deal is way down on the priority list.
 
You should shoot for $43k out the door you will have to work hard for that number but I've seen others do it.
 
I got my 2019 GT2 AWD Ceramic Silver w/ Red interior for ~ $43500 after $5000 dealer discount and then doing the 24/mo lease buyout. Lease cash is even higher now than when I bought in February, so you should definitely be able to replicate my deal, if not improve upon it. Just find a dealer that deals in high volume - they'll be more likely to give you a bigger discount. Make it a point to tell them you want $5k off the MSRP and not $5k in incentives that you may or may not qualify for. Once you have a commitment on the dealer's end to a true $5k discount off MSRP, you can work from there.

*edit* That MSRP also seems high. You may be able to have them remove some of the optional items they tacked on, assuming they're something like floor mats, trunk mat, or trunk netting. That is actually something I should have asked for but failed to do. I think they'd be willing to remove them from the deal if they want to sell the car.

They were floor mats and other small crap. How does that $43500 play out in the long term. I'd assume if I did the lease buyout, I'd have to finance the remainder and would be paying around 4% interest. It may be cheaper to hop on the 0% wagon. I haven't done the math enough to know yet. If I could do 43k otd, I'd be jumping all over it. Prices I have gotten so far without negotiating much are no where in that ballpark. 55k out the door for a GT2 and around 50k otd for a GT1. This is why earlier I posted you should be shooting for $43k OTD. I didn't start getting good numbers until I sat down with them at the dealership but I made them all sit together, Sales Person, Sales Manager, Finance Manager all at the same table no running around BS. I made them get as close to what I wanted as I felt was possible had it all in writing then I got up and left and went up the road to another dealer. While I was at the other dealer who basically said they were lying to me even though I had it in writing the dealer I was dealing with REALLY started to sweat and the magic really started happening with the numbers as they came down even more including on the interest as I knew they still had some buffer in their for them.

Finally, after it was all said and done to my shock the Credit Union the loan was with had some special the dealership didn't know about and lowered the interest another point. I was pretty shocked by that but very happy.
