Hello guys, is there any exterior differences between the base GT and the GT1/GT2 trims other than the sunroof?

not that I know of. Only the shifter/HUD/seats are the "noticeable" interior differences between the GT1 and GT2 just walking by them.

What's the difference with the sunroof between GT1 and GT2? I know the GT doesn't have a sunroof.

I would assume the GT1 and GT2 have the same sunroof. Looks the same in photos anyway.

There are no external differences between the trims (at least no obvious ones). Also, there’s no difference in ride height between the AWD and RWD. I know because we have both!

That's AWESOME!

most of the upgrades are on the interior but the kia website lists exterior upgrades for gt2 over base gt:

auto dimming outside mirrors
sunroof
smart power trunk
high beam assist
dynamic low beam assist
rain sensing wipers

some of these can be added to base gt with nannies package

I have the GT1 with the driver assistance package. Her GT2 additionally has:

HUD
Nappa seats with ventilation and increased adjustability
Shift by wire tranny
Heated steering wheel
Smart power trunk

Relatedly, I’m glad to not have the shift by wire as it’s silly to me that the performance-based variant (GT2) cannot be placed in and out of manual mode at will. Though, I will admit her shifter looks more refined.

I kinda miss the HUD (had it on the last BMW) and heated steering wheel (also on last car) but I’m just as pleased with the non-Nappa leather seats. The power trunk is convenient, but not a necessity for me.

Cheers

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I plan on getting the base GT and just wanted to make sure there wasn't any exterior changes other than the sunroof. I know that most of the differences are in the interior and with safety features. I think that the fact that the base GT does not have memory seats suck. I think that and the sunroof is what I wish were options for the base GT. Everything else does not bother me. Dark Knight, I definitely agree that the shifter on the GT2 looks better, I wonder if we can easily replace it with a similar GT2 shifter. Does any one know if the electronic suspension makes a huge different in drive?

I was wondering about the electronic suspension as well. Other than the sunroof, the base GT has everything I need. Most of the safety features are nice, but not a necessity since I don't have them now. In AZ I've seen some base GTs online for around 36-37k. I'm thinking with a little negotiation a base GT could be had for around 35 which is a great deal for the performance you get.

Most of the reviews I've seen say there isn't a huge difference in the dynamic suspension modes, and the trims with static suspensions seem to be well tuned.

I am having the same debate (GT vs GT1 vs GT2). I think the GT with a set if Eibach springs would be a nice package. I would miss the heads up display and upgraded stereo but it seems hard to justify the extra $ for other features I probably wouldn't use much.

I have a GT1 AWD DriveWise coming. I prefer the manual shifter gate to the wired shifter because, well, my other car is a 6-speed GTO and that's where I keep my hand when shifting -- more natural than paddles to me. I will miss the 3rd pedal, but I'll get over that. I also think the "cheaper" leather is potentially more durable than the softer leather in the GT2. Since I have AWD the LSD is a non-issue. Just thought the GT1 AWD DriveWise was the sweet spot in price and $4,000 less than the GT2. All the mechanics (except shifter) are the same, big LCD, premium stereo, tunable suspension, etc. Just seat, movable headlights, HUD and tailgate are missing.

dumb question can you replace the gt1 shifter to something that looks more from this era's part bin

I don't know but now that I have it, I still don't love the look of it but I love the feel of it and wouldn't trade it for the shorter one in the gt2 or even the more upright stick from my Optima. I could see swapping it out for something that looks different but is a similar shape.

Have tried to find a replacement shifter for our stinger. Wanted a second shorter shifter so I could modify one of them with an idea I had. Seems parts are not readily available yet.

Another thing the GT is missing...HD Radio. I know I know, who really needs that...it just made me angry because my old car had it as does way cheaper Hyundai's/Kias and this Stinger is a $40,000 car!!
