As stated earlier, there is NOTHING out there near the plant, and nearby cities are not the kind of place you'd want to visit for a vacation. There is no test track.

They have a 1.7 mile straight on property for vehicle testing, as well as a very small test track. So yes, "track" indeed. Not a race track. That is long enough for a top speed run, or whatever.

LaGrange is a cool small town. I think the opportunity KIA has given LaGrange, they would really enjoy seeing this event take place there.

Anything more than 1-2 days of driving and I probably wouldn't go, definitely not going if I can't take my stinger.

Any more word on this one for a time and place?

15 hours for me to go to that hmmm

It's taking KIA an usual amount of time to get something going with this. What they actually want to do is an all-KIA event. I've been pushing for Stinger only...

We may just need to take this into our own hands... Speaking of hands, it would be nice to see a bigger "show of hands" with more votes...

Is there anyone you can share this topic with on social media? Let's get more votes as to where this is going to happen. Right now, it's just too close to call anywhere for certain...

There are 369 members on the Reddit r/kiastinger page. That’s where I heard about the event in St. Louis.

That's been my problem finding even local to me Stinger owners. My Sales guy and another Sales guy other than that I've only seen 2 other stingers here in the Tampa, FL area. I'd like to have local group but so far no joy.

There seems to be more in South Florida but for me that a 4-5 hour drive. I'm mostly wanting to see/hear mods and opinions so that I can make better decisions on what I want to do.

Well I'll say one thing about South Florida... If we have it here, I can do all kinds of interesting stuff - considering South Florida is where I live. I have more ability to get things arranged right here. And "Southeast" is #2 in the voting to "Central"... More than anything, I want a BIG turnout - and I want it to be accessible to everyone, which is why I lean toward "Central".

The problem is, last year's event in Chicago - which should have been a great location to get a ton of Stinger owners - was a total dud... I certainly don't want that happening again...

Now we have more members RIGHT HERE than any other online entity - whether it be Facebook, Reddit, or whatever. We ARE capable of getting a TREMENDOUS event together - but we need more votes and people in this discussion...

If I could only get people to share the link to this discussion...

Go around to every kia dealer and put a flyer in every stinger LOL

Well, I will be on the road between Utah and Deals Gap between 19 August through at least the 29 August. That means three days from here to Deals Gap, then drop down to Atlanta. Or, hit Deals Gap on my way out on the 26th; then head west to Utah, arriving on c. the 29th. I could delay my road trip home through the first part of September, if I had a reason to.

Chicago is actually a great location.

The reason the Chicago Stinger fest turned out bad was for numerous reasons, which it had nothing to do with the members/owners.

1. The Chicago fest was scheduled last minute with no proper advertising. The location was picked last minute as well without properly communicating it with the place where it was being help.
2. The date was on October which in Chicago is cold and it was raining that day. Not the ideal weather for an outdoor car meet. The Chicago Fest needed to be help during the summer time June- August and it would have been different turnout.
3. Last minute "Sal" announced that he would not be able to make it. That turned a lot of people off from not coming.
4. I know all of this because I was there. People still showed up from New York, Saint Louis etc...

I strongly believe that if there proper planning, advertising and communication a Chicago Stinger Fest would be a success.

This would an opportunity to redeem ourselves. Just a comment being a Chicago Native you never hold an outdoor car meet event after the month of August. It has to be summer time, October in Florida is way different than October in Chicago. That day it was like 40 degrees and raining.

18 hr drive for me to Chicago so that probably wouldn't be doable for me.

I personally don't care where the location is. No matter where it is located or Day there will always be people that will say it's too far or wont be able to make it.

My point is that Chicago was not a fail because of the City or the people there, it was a fail because the planning/advertising was non existent.

All I am saying is does not matter where it is located, the time, day. The planning and the advertising has to be there ahead of time for the event to be a success and have a great turnout.

We just need to learn from the past mistakes made.

We also as a community need to support Sal to spread the word on social media outlets as possible. We need to also make sure to attend if possible and not back out last minute.

I will do all I can in my power to spread the word.

I hear what you are saying I'm not saying southeast is the best choice just my preferred after that central but not so far north. Being more central north and south helps with those in the corners of the US

Say someone from Miami instead of 18hr one way they would be looking at 24 probably.

Then lets say it's a 1 day event so that's 18hr to drive (probably 1.5 to 2 days for me to drive so either 1 to 2 days off work, then a day for the event then another 1 to 2 days to drive back and off from work possible 5 days total but 1-2 days would be weekend days so maybe 2-3 days off work.

If it's a 2 day or more event then that's more days off. If we could keep everyone's drive closer to 12hrs to me that's more reasonable but again that's just my personal preference.

I am with you. Taking 2-3 days off work for a Stinger even I a bit overboard if ask me. 1-2 days is manageable.

It is going to be hard to try to accommodate everyone. Somewhere central would probably be best suited to be on middle of the U.S.A.

That's is reason why planning is crucial and everyone needs to be involved on participation. If Sal knows where are people coming from then Sal can better pick a location.

That is why people need to participate and commit to coming.

I am really hoping it is a success, after the Chicago Fest last year I was disappointed.

Not trying to convince the entire USA/Canada/Mexico to attend a single event at a single location is the best plan. Having several bigger "swarms" in all the regions is the best plan; and plan them to happen throughout the good weather in said locations, as far apart on the calendar from each other as possible.

If this is to be a once only event, then the location doesn't matter; because most of us will not bother taking the time and effort to go to this. If I/we happen to coincide an already planned road trip to take in a nearby, or along the way, location then that is likely to happen. For instance, currently, it looks like if I stick around (dawdle) on the way home and extend the return trip by a couple of days, I could pass through St Louis at the time a "swarm" arrived there. :D
