Custom Exhaust ?

I'd guess a good shop, and/or someone familiar with tuning exhaust notes would be able to tell immediately what needs to be done to fix that 1k-2k rpm low pitch drone/moo noise. Its rather annoying. An overall quiet-down in-cabin would be nice as well (especially for low RPMs).
So yes, if "sting me" can post some audio clips (in and out of car?) while driving, that'd be great, along with what was done, so we all don't have to drive to Texas to get a better sound.

This summer I might go to some local shops and get quotes.. however I don’t know how much faith I have in some custom shop creating an exhaust for a car they haven’t dealt with before and also if it drones ... not sure if I’m just stuck with it then..
You're spot on there I'm still paying the penalty. The drone is out of this world.

Your custom set up no good? Will shop fix it?

EVERY exhaust (aftermarket or custom) is getting drone. If the well known manufacturers (JUN BL, tubistyle, Ark) can’t eliminate the drone with the full cat back, a local shop won’t either. You want loud, that’s the price. The only solutions seem to be dynomat the entire trunk, or throw EVCs (so at least closed resembles stock).

Some cars just resonate at certain frequencies when you use altered (or removed) mufflers/resonators/etc.

For many, simply staying in sport avoids the RPM ranges that are worse.

If you find a unicorn exhaust setup that is loud AND no drone, you will make a boatload off the stinger community.

That's right, well the exhaust note is great it's just the drone.

Went the dynamat route I the boot (trunk) did the whole thing. Now the drone has caused vibration and drone behind and under the drivers seat. And the whole console rattles when in that 1500-2000 rev range.
Will keep you posted booked in Tuesday for replacement mid pipe and two additional resonators. I hoping this guy has found that unicorn and is booking a cruise liner lol. ( he drove the vehicle and hopefully he knows the cure , he says he does:sick:.

Good luck! I'm still on the fence on what to do!

Thanks , I'd sit on the fence until someone creates something exceptional.

Lol... yeh... some shop here has come up with a new option...

Keep existing exhaust...but then modify a muffler bypass and install an EVC. When valves are closed, it runs stock, through the stock exhaust pipes but when open, it runs through the bypass exhaust. Creative!

Ok I'm back I've put my stinger through its paces for two day to test out its "Surgery" before I posted.

So basically the specialist cut out the mid pipes and repositioned the custom made pipe also made of 304SS and put them closer to the front where he said it would be more effective. This mid pipe had two resonators added. So I've still got the Ark hemholtz resonators towards the rear as well.

The mid pipe flow on the Ark is large he believes this effects the flow of back pressure, so the new one reduces the size and shape of the hole. He says you need back pressure otherwise you're going to have increased drone. The mid pipe move may stop the resonance vibration up front to.

Well the vibration has stopped in the consul and on the dash area completely. The USB port area where the battery recharge is still vibrating the sliding lid but that is all. Open the lid and no rattling.

Bonus: exhaust note is a controlled humming growl now. I'd expect this sound from something far more expensive.
So as of the last two days I'm happy. Let's hope I don't wake up tomorrow and find out it was all a dream.
Cost you ask $1200 aussie south pacific pesos:D (Aud).

Advise go EVC if you can afford it .
-As Nhcowboy said they're ain't no unicorn fix yet . Hope that help Sabz to.
Before I forget with the old set up I felt like I was losing low down power. The power may have returned now.

I appreciate the advice! Il look into evc... or maybe do just a downpipe

As promised at last Ark grip cat back modified exhaust clip .
Mid pipe moved forward, 2 in pipe added resonators. Flow reduced to ease drone.

cant seem to be able to view your videos :(

That's strange? They appear visible as soon as I open this thread. That's a shame.

Was able to see them from my phone!
I wonder if it would sounded just a bit louder/raspier without the resonator on your downpipe, the silencer weren’t enough ?

I actually don't think it would sound much louder without the resonators, they are just there to stop the drone. I believe the volume you hear has been compromised as 30 metres in front of the car is a busy freeway which I thought may have drowned out some of the sound.
I have driven 680km on holiday so far and I'm more than happy with this exhaust sound. The unmodified Ark IMO is undriveable with its drone.
