Which chip do you recommend???

Has anyone installed an oil catch for their tuning? Is it recommended for the JB4? I saw on another site that oil catches are highly recommended for the Lap3 tune.
Personally I don't buy in to catch cans, their benefits are not clearly demonstrated. Sure, you can post a picture of how much liquid is in yours but I guarantee 95% of people who run catch cans don't know what that liquid is even made of or why / how it would possibly be bad for their engine.

I agree. You don't need to know how to wrench to "deserve" to drive a modified vehicle.

Yeah, no. Not wanting to, or lacking the ability for whatever reason, put in the work yourself to mod your car, and preferring to just pay someone to install stuff is one thing; not knowing at a minimum HOW to install basic bolt-ons and how to perform basic maintenance on a car, and not knowing how mods are affecting the way your car works, is asking for trouble for a multitude of reasons.

I'm looking into getting a performance chip for my Stinger GT1. I've already purchased HKS plugs. Which performance chip do you recommend (LAP 3, Racechip, JB4)? Do I also need to install an oil catch can? Recommendations on that?

Thanks!!!
I have stinger 2.0 with down pipe and meth kit from AEM and jb4 and air intake and manufacture sparks with 0.026 gap it’s completely different ib4 work pretty cool if u need any videos I'm ready

I am literally at the beginning of week 3 with the car. I have already installed RaceChip version GTS. I am in no way related to them. I am just a customer.

As far, the product is performing as indicated. I personally just wanted something that is a PnP and piggyback. Overall, it's been pretty solid. I def did the sparkplug upgrade and I used Denso. The only downside is it does not have E85 tune.

This all depends on your wallet.

If you want the absolute best chip, go for the LAP3 Pro.

If you want bang for your buck, every single other chip costs way less, lmao

Can you give us 3 reasons why you feel the lap 3 is better? I can give you about 10 for the jb4 :)

Here we go again

1) Highest out-of-box, dyno-proven HP
2) Due to expanded resource monitoring, safest chip out there that doesn't require personalized changes to achieve optimal power levels
3) Doesn't require constant adjustments/updates to respond to issues; some competitors have made many adjustments, statements, and a variety of excuses to say it wasn't their product or have had to find ways to prove it wasn't

*watches you prepare yourself to shoot down everything I say and move the goalpost because toxic behavior*

Ill just respond to your post first...

Highest out of box dyno proven HP.... Yet behind on the 1/4 mile leaderboard. :/

Doesnt require personalized changes... are you referring to the fact that you cant make any changes? It was very one size fits all piggyback.

No updates? David Chung has been saying there will be more updates to make it more in line to the JB4 the fact is the pro tuner is just no where near as devloped.

here is why the JB4 is the better option

1 (and probably most important) half the cost of Pro Tuner
2 8 maps... yes 8 compared to 3 ( 9 and 4 if you want to count maps 0)
3 custom map availability to tune on top of ECU tunes
4 Full Water meth injection control
5 Ease of Install and removal
6 Logging capabilities (no one wonders why lap3 cars are all rated so high on a dyno yet cant perform at tracks? I would)
7 Additional safety setting within the jb4 for a max boost
8 Boost by gear
9 Race Gas and E85 tuning capabilities.

Come on man , can we skip the facts and move straight to the personal insults please?

I’m not a tuner and the only reason I follow these threads is for the flame wars. :)

Yeeaaaa, this is why I avoided the JB4: apparently if you don't have one and use another product you like, they get toxic and challenge you like above example. I respect Mustangs, especially the fast ones, but I'm not buying one because I don't want to be a part of "that" crowd, lmao

I honestly don't understand why anyone buys the Lap3-Pro system given what the JB4 offers and it's price unless they are just trying to be different. The power and tuning potential is the same as proven by many customer dynos, the safety edge goes to the JB4 with it's built in over boost and run lean safety systems, our new enclosures and harness are second to none on build quality, and we actively support our customers with ongoing and free product development. But, different strokes for different folks. Run what you like.

If you want to make the JB4 more like Lap3 here are some tips off the top of my head:

1) Never load any JB4 firmware updates and never enable any new JB4 feature as lap3 doesn't offer either.
2) Disable JB4 logging and diagnostics as they don't offer that either. Really no reason to ever know how your vehicle is actual running as you can't change any of your tuning with their interface anyway.
3) Load up the original JB4 firmware that had static fuel control rather than our dynamic PID based fuel control.
4) Disable the JB4 over boost and run lean safety systems so you stay at full boost even if boost is way over target or AFR super lean.
5) Donate an hour of your time and $400 to charity given how much less expensive and easier to install the JB4 is.
6) Start referring to JB4 maps as "modes".

How was any of what I posted toxic?

@Terry@BMS... I'm installing HKS plugs this weekend. The come gapped at .028. Do I need to adjust the gap further down to say .024 for the JB4, or am I good with .028? Just wanna be sure there aren't going to be any issues when I get around to installing the JB4... Thanks!

I would gap them between .022-.024

I personally gapped mine at .024.

I suggest gapping them down to 0.022, but it's not required.
