Window tint

My attempt at a link didn’t work! Sorry about that.
Truthfully, window film on front windshields is Illegal in more places than not. Including my state!! That’s why I chose to go with a near clear ceramic film. The heat dissapation is noticeable - and worth the risk to me. The HUD discovery, was an unexpected bonus which is beneficial while driving with polarized glasses. db

Ahh good idea about clear ceramic on the front. Can you elaborate on your find with the polarized glasses and HUD or is it that they work with the tint on? I couldn't find what you tried to link to.

We have LLumar CTX ceramic on our XC90 20% all around even over factory tint rear, and 80% near clear ceramic on the front with 20% visor and 5% mirror on the panoramic sunroof. Paid around $600 for everything.

3M Crystalline on our stinger 40% sides 20% rear 70% front windshield. Paid around $650 and came with lifetime ewarranty from 3M, if you don't get the ewarranty documentation directly from 3M you may not have the actual crystalline product.

The Stinger stays noticeably cooler during the hot Georgia summers with 3M Crystalline vs the LLumar CTX.

The 80% & 70% front windshields look practically clear but blocks a lot of heat. I had 50% 3M ceramic front on a previous car and that was too dark to drive with at night.

The I have the Crystaline all over My Porsche 981 but did not prevent the head liner to sag so if your head liner is poorly made and you live in Florida I guess the Crystaline will only add so much protection against heat.

This past Monday I got LLumar CTX ceramic 35% for front sides and 20% for rear sides & hatch for $250 including sales tax. Took the shop about 2 hours.

Had 20% on all around on my WRX and it made seeing well on left turns difficult. The 35% looks good and left turns in low light areas are better.

You HUD is improperly installed or you need new sunglasses. All polarized sunglasses should be oriented to block horizontally polarized light. All automotive displays should be vertically polarized. The display in my Stinger (HK) is oriented correctly. It's very obvious if you take the sunglasses off and rotate them 90deg.
I have no idea what's wrong with yours....

LegacyGT: interesting point. Not sure what to think about that one as the polarized glasses issue IS mentioned in the owners manual. The only problem I had was the image was dimmed to nearly invisible with glasses on - PRIOR to installing the window film. No longer an issue with the film installed... glasses on or off. db

Uggg why is so hard for me to decide on how dark LOL I definitely want to do the entire car and the windshield. Windshield will e lighter of course. Looking at getting Car Window Tint Percentage Specs - Rayno Phantom Film Rayno Phantom S9 Ceramic got a quote for $340 for everything.

Worried if I go to dark it will be hard to see and won't like it but then also worried if I go to light I'll regret not going darker.

Just set your car on fire, problem solved.

Jk go to a car meet and find tinted cars.

Where did you get that done? A2 customs?

I'm leaning towards doing Rayno Phantom S9 Ceramic 50% on the windshield and 20% on the rest unless someone talks me out of it got a quote for $340 USD

Based on spec's I've read the IR and UV protection on the Rayno Phantom S9 is by far better than all the other products out there.

Mine ran 245 for 3M carbon based tint, did my doors at 25% and 20% on the rear. My installer also took off the third brake light and reinstalled after tint for a cleaner look. Personally, not a fan of when the tint tech cuts around the third brake light. This the fourth car I've had him do for me. Bergen County New Jersey area

I'm thinking of tinting, living in Florida. Any of you have the auto dimming side mirrors, my concern is with the tint and them dimmed they will be useless.
Not at all, I think the auto dimming feature sucks as its still too bright. Having it combined with my 20% tint on the rear hatch is perfect

$350 for all windows except the front windshield with 3M film sounds reasonable, especially if you're working with a reputable installer.
Just be sure to double-check with the installer what exactly is included in the quote.

any way to find out what the percentage tint on this car is? Ima the second owner.
