Should I buy a GT-line with sunroof?

So from what I understand, the people who are against having a sunroof are track racing giants?:p I enjoy my sunroof (when it’s a bit chilly out and not too sunny), but I’m down in South Florida where the weather is usually hot and sun is melting you, so there’s that lol

Yeah sound system is amazing, but number one difference for me was the adaptive dampening. Sure I wanted the sunroof but the difference between GT and GT1 included lots of other goodies. If the only difference had been the sunroof then maybe not.
I wasn't into the differences in the trims at all. All the "extras" were immaterial to me. I got heated steering wheel, seats, outside mirrors, parking assist sensors, electronic suspension, just a ton of stuff, and the only three things I checked off were the 3.3L, HK and sunroof. I specifically asked for no "nannies" (driver assist) stuff; I didn't want to be paying extra for stuff I would never use. The rest, I use and appreciate, after the fact. :D

Funny not being a progressive leftist I'd regulate every car must come with forward collision nanny and the beep beep beep back up system to save lives, but the progressive leftist who rule every moment of our lives think saving gas is more important than saving lives and hence we get the Obama start stop system and the associate $400 car battery

BTW I do find it annoying I've had the car 2 weeks and it's hit the brakes on me 4 times. And before you think I'm a bad driver I have been driving 20+ years and knock on wood haven't hit anything yet :)

Suomalainen! Hei!
I live in Michigan. It's not quite Finland weather (although I am just starting to to think about swapping off my winter wheels/tires on since Nov 7.), but I would not hesitate to get a sun roof. I bought my Stinger last May, and I've had no problems whatsoever. Like with my other cars with sunroofs, I think I probably enjoy a sunroof more than folks who live in warm weather climes. Even though we don't have the opportunity to open it as much, after our long winters, we just appreciate the sun and the sunroof more. Plus, we don't have a super-hot sun beating down us when it's open.
(BTW - both of my grandmothers were Finn. Sisu! And my wife is 100% Finn. Even more Sisu.:D)
Thanks for the reply, indeed it's great to have those extra sunrays in the winter

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I think you made the right choice, you obviously want one so if you didn't get it, every time you see a stinger with a sunroof you would be wishing you bought one with it.
I find it hilarious people talking about weight constantly do you guys realise how heavy the stinger is? It's not a car for people that want a light weight sports /track monster it's a GT car.
Big, powerful and chock full of tech and creature comforts.
Complaining about weight in a stinger is just as bad as complaining about fuel economy in a v8.

Thanks for the answers - I went for the sunroof :)

Sweden here, you won't regret it, it is actually nice for more light let into the car, and during our dark winters, every bit of extra light helps out against the winter depression.. :P Wife also loves looking up at the trees and sky through it. I've actually haven't opened it yet during driving because the temps were too low allready when I got it.

But, it will be nice in summer, we get the 30+ celsius days then. :) :) Last summer was a schorcher.. :O

Don't wait until summer, pop the roof and turn heating up.

Good choice! I'm late to the thread, but I have wanted and got a sunroof or T-tops in every car, truck, and SUV I hae owned since 1981. Here in Michigan I use it almost every day from March until December and even some says in January & February. When it isn't at least cracked for fresh air, just the extra sunlight is very welcome -- I rarely pull the shade closed. The last vehicle I had without one was my Saab Sonett III back in college. Only one with any issues was wind/air noise on the '91 Eclipse GSX.

Here is my list:
Cars: Mitsu Starion, Saab 900T, Porsche 924T, Porsche 944T, Mitsu Eclipse GSX, Mitsu 3000GT SL, Toyota MR2t, '02 Subaru WRX, Dodge/Mitsu Stealth RT/TT (still have), Saab 9-3 Aero, '15 Subaru WRX and now Stinger GT2 AWD
Trucks/SUV: Chevy S10 Blazer, Jeep Cherokee Limited, Dodge Durango SLT, 2002 Chevy Avalanche NF, 2007 Chevy Avalanche LT (still have to tow boat and for real bad snow).

Just noticed that every car in my list has also bee a turbo engine. I guess I have 2 "needs" in my cars!

Hello all!. I own a Stinger Gt 2018, Great looking car, top performance . Unfortunately within 2 months of owning it I began hearing creaking & rattling from the Sunroof! . after taking it in to have assessed it wss confirmed there was something wrong. The rattling was more evident if the car was left out in the sun for a long period of time. Clearly heat causing expansion in the frame metal rubbing on metal?. Anyway I wss told that the car roof lining would have to be romoved as well as pillar trims in order to fix it. I was concerned & pissed off $60000 AUD car is nothing to sneeze at. After almost 5 weeks without the car finally after a few accidental damages to interior & exterior which were all replaced I finally picked up my car..Unfortunately after a couple of weeks more creeking noises appeared so off it went again to have the glass removed from the top in order to adjust bracing? After another week I picked it up again! Again the noises came back? Now a 3rd time it went back in again & again nothing . The original problem is back & now kia wasn't to completely remove the whole Sunroof & try to repair it & put it back in? I told them they need to replace for a whole new Sunroof but they wasn't to keep persisting with trying to repair it!. Clearly therevis a chronic problem & looks like it cannot be fixed. I am really pissed off by this stage as now it had to go in for 4th time. After many emails & phone calls regarding my concerns about further damage & very likely not being able to rectifying this issue, Kia have finally decided to replace or refund the whole vehicle as they cannot guarantee this 4th attempt to repair Sunroof wss going to work. The car barely 9 months old.. Now the question remains , Do I take another chance with another Stinger Gt with Sunroof or do I take the money & run? . Is anyone else having issues with there Gt or was I just unlucky. I have to decide asap ..I really love this car ,, But, ,,,What should I do?

Wait a month or so and take the new car option on the proviso it's a recent MY19 (or even better a MY20). Also get an assurance, if you can, that the same issue won't manifest.

You were unlucky. Most sunroofs do not make noises, or else we'd be seeing a lot more complaints. Some people don't hear anything because the noise is minor or intermittent and not there most of the time. A few sunroofs are rattle/creaking traps. I don't understand why Kia won't just replace the entire sunroof (a la @westcoastGT) and then decide to buyback the vehicle if that doesn't work: they'd get "their new sunroof" back that way and not be out much if anything; especially compared to taking back the whole car!?
