when should i rotate my tires ?

Here the humor

I get it, got it, good. Now, does anybody know what happens to the car when some ignoramus does a kattycorner tire rotation on a staggered setup?

Oversteer..

He was being sarcastic. I'm pretty sure he's not even talking about tires.
And I was being rhetorical - another thing us Aussies are good at!

Let's make a short list Aussies are good at: Rhetoric, hyperbole, exaggeration, innuendo, sarcasm, (self) mockery. All you all are fun to talk to. :P

Ever hear the term "teach a man to fish"?

I can answer *this* question by posting the page from the manual, but perhaps others will realize *other* questions can be answered by looking it up as well.. it is a big manual, but it also has an index (and the PDF version is searchable)..

Oh, not here to police Stinger owners - just to help police the rowdy members, owners or not.. ;)

What if I have 19 inch asymetrical tires (
PILOT SUPER SPORT - SIZE: 255/35ZR19)
... manual doesn't cover that...contradicts itself... help me spear fish that one

Are you saying that you have 255s on all four 19" rims, with the rear tires stretched? (because the rear rims are wider than the fronts)

225's on the front.... didn't realize. So what would be the rotation suggestions? Or are these not rotatable since they are differant sizes and asymetrical?

Yes, the manual is not contradictory. You swap sides, that's all. Diagonal rotation is not done with staggered/asymmetrical setups.

To simplify this further: when you swap the OE GT rims for aftermarket, if you get a "true directional wheel", then each wheel must stay on its corner. The only way to swap tires from side to side would be to remove them and remount them on the opposite wheels. My Michelin Pilot Sport tires (OE with the vehicle a year ago) are now on such rims: the TSW "Watkins" are directional. I asked the Wheel Werks guys how that works out. And they said you just run the tires down and get new ones. If your alignment is good you'll see c. a thousand miles of difference between two tires: not a big deal when you're talking 15K plus miles on a set of tires.

Not a zombie, google search took me to this thread... sorry to offend the forum flux capacitor crowd....didn't realize it was a "member" measuring club. Thanks for the help.... oh, and cowboy, you have M&S Adv Side Skirt Splitters? Amazing

I wonder if some maroon wannabe mechanic working the lower tier in a Kia shop has rotated the 19s diagonally yet? How would that signify to the driver? You have kattycorner 8" treads and kattycorner 8.5" treads. What would that do to the handling?

When I bought wheels and tires for my Genesis Coupe, friend at the time worked a Treadquarters, said he'd get me a deal to get them on. So I stuff them into the car and head over. 18x8.5 front, meant to go with 245s, 18x9.5 rears meant for 275. The tires are visibly different sizes and the wheels had different concavity. The rears were obviously deeper than the fronts. I come back to a front wheel with a mushrooming 275 on it, and on the opposite corner a 245 struggling to cover one of my 9.5s. With the wheels installed on the wrong axle. I was too astounded by the sheer fuckery I had witnessed to get actually angry. We kinda didn't hang out as much after that.

Gee wiz there fella.

Your response is a bit uncalled for. It was sarcasm but true.

It wasn’t a full frontal attack. But that’s cool.

Welcome to the forum.

And I guess I’m an idiot for having info on what I’ve done in my signature. Thanks for reminding me. I’ll clear that right up.

Good talk.

Thanks mods for setting me straight.

Carry on.

Everyone simmer down a little. Shawn, your question was answered in the 2nd reply to this thread, but that's OK. Some people get a little irritated if the same question is asked repeatedly - just don't ask about oil, ok? That might result in demands to hunt you down and whip you with a wet noodle! lol..
