Powder coating: what color would you choose for your wheels?

I bought my Stinger Friday. Dealer already had them powder coated. It’s a semi-gloss black. It’s not matte like most rims I’ve seen, but definitely not gloss. I honestly didn’t think I liked anything other that gloss black, but this color looks fantastic in person, especially on the Ceramic Silver. I’ve always felt that the darkish window tint pulled everything together and the dealer had that done as well. Every time I walk up to my new Stinger it feels like a dream, it looks sooooo sexy.

Would love to see some pics!!

Very good Merlin, but no Thrashmetl anniversary.
Thanks. I hadn't gone looking for the oldest post on the Stinger Forum, but assumed that Sal started it up in May or June of 2017. Don't know why I thought that.

(I don't get the thrash metal reference.)

Me :)

Pretty pathetic. Apparently it’s my one year anniversary, but I only just bought my Stinger last Friday.

I'm with you on that, joined in November 2017, didn't buy my car until October 2018. As soon as I heard about this car, I wanted to get all the information I could before buying.

Haha I’ve been here a long while too, and haven’t pulled the trigger yet..... but it’s coming. Been sold on it since they first announced it, and even got in on the consumer research with Kia, for the different trim levels.

Y'all have some serious willpower. I saw the Stinger in person on the same day I signed up here. 10 days later I bought one.

I knew we had some large medical expenses coming up this year (IVF), so I decided to hold out, although at this point I’ve walked away from 3 deals on three different GT2’s either because they dealer started playing games after agreeing or we simply couldn’t agree on a price.

The lease on my Maxima ended in October of 2018 lol that's the only reason I was able to wait so long

Me too. I knew about the forum, but I didn’t join the forum until another forum member caught me drooling on his car in a Walmart parking lot and suggested I join.

Lol. I hadn't noticed "you" before. Only 34 posts, after all. Now I see.

I wonder how accurate my assertion about how less than 10% of Stinger Forum members don't own a Stinger (yet) is?

Yeah, I’ve been that creepy, lurking forum member until now, just gathering info and drooling on my keyboard. Now I’m one of the cool kids, or at least that’s what my mom and internet friends tell me.

Your assertion is probably fairly accurate.

pics? I’m looking at doing something similar

Happily added gloss black to my snow white pearl GT2 this week. Very happy with the outcome. . .20200111_142723.webp 20200110_173239.webp 20200111_142723.webp 20200111_142746.webp 20200111_142755.webp 20200111_142804.webp 20200111_142819.webp

I'm getting my Ceramic Silver GT2 powder coated satin (semi-gloss) black today. Will post some pics when done!

Checked out the gloss finishes but felt there's too much gloss trim on the car already and wanted to make it look more aggressive!

There is the added wrinkle that gloss black will show every teensy smudge, scratch or haze mark. I think that satin from the getgo is a smart move. (My gloss black powder coat is slowly, and unevenly turning to "satin"/matte finish:rolleyes: I was warned.)

I thought about Satin Black but I'm leaning toward either Graphite Charcoal or Bronze Chrome. Can't wait for your pics to make my decision.

Here's mine in Satin Black
Looks good. I'm still debating on my choice. If I do Satin or Gloss black, the cost is $400 to powder coat all 4. This includes removing tires and remounting after the process. If I go with an alternate color, I would simply have to buy the powder myself and take it to them.
