I’m struggling with garage space to park an SUV and the Stinger in a two car side load garage giving the wife GOOD clearance to park. Other than a lift, has anyone put a car on wheel dollies to maximize space? Other ideas? Thanks

park the suv outside or get a divorce.
To me considering how anal i am with my cars divorce would be easier, but seriously buying one of those lifts and stack up the cars IDs the only solution othrer than braking walls and expanding your garage by a contractor.

If that is what you are going to do, do NOT cheap out on the lift. Cheap steel lift = 2 totaled vehicles when the lift fails. Guy across the street from me can attest to that.

I assume your wife drives the SUV and you drive the Stinger, correct?

What SUV and what are the actual measurements of the garage?

Stacking cars is actually a borderline-poor way to create space. I have a 4-post and it takes me about 20 to 30 minutes to take the car on the lift down and rearrange the garage. If the car stored on the lift is not a daily driver, it's not bad.

In order to avoid damage in the garage, I use two parking stops for the two cars parked on the floor. The parking stop places a car in almost the same spot every time and it's not just for longitudinal position, but lateral too. I use only one parking stop per car and it's positioned to "cradle" the left front tire. They look like this

For my double attached garage, I back one car in, and drive the other car in nose first - parking each close to their respective garage side wall. That way the driver door on each opens to the center of the garage, and the spacing allows a huge amount of of room in the center between the vehicles. Passengers load/unload in the driveway.

As for positioning the cars exactly where I want them, I use two motion activated laser pointers on the ceiling, which let me put the cars in the same spot every time.

Great little gizmos - no second guessing where the car is stopped, and no hanging tennis balls or physical floor stops required. Just wait for the laser dot to reach a pre-determined point on the dash and I know the car is positioned just right to allow the overhead door to close while leaving the maximum space at the front of the garage.

You could always just get you one of these 3 door thingies like I did.

What's wrong with hanging tennis balls... back in the day that is what you did. And they were awesome for kicking practice when the car was gone.

This is the US Amazon listing for the one I use. There are a bunch of manufacturers and variations, including double laser setups - but I need the two singles because of the way I park the cars, plus it lets me line up the precise angle I want on each one.

... and yes, hanging tennis balls is a real thing - people have been using them for parking for years ... :p

SUV is a 2014 Hyundai Sante Fe. Garage size very close to 21x21’. On one side I have a 4x3’ work bench mounted to the wall. Has anyone reviewed / commented on 4 post lifts on this site? I would have to keep floor space for push mower, pressure washer, 2 small kids bikes.

I rigged my tennis ball on a string attached to the top rail of the garage door. When the door is down, the ball is up - and vice versa.

Wouldn't that swing too much when you open the door to pull in?

I live in an older home and only have a single stall attached garage. I used the old tennis ball trick when parking my 370Z. Since I got my Stinger, I had to rearrange my garage some to get the Stinger to fit nice. I have no problem parking my Stinger since it came with front and rear parking sensors. This makes it nice and easy to park my Stinger in the same location everytime.

Not much swing at all unless it's really windy outside. The ball drops down vertically almost 80 inches before it touches the top of the windscreen. That is the travel of the garage door up and over.
I don't have a tennis ball so use a very soft baseball from my sob's toys. He thinks it's funny.
The wife thinks its anal.
Works for me tho'.
Got to be thick-skinned and a mind of a 5 year old.
Me in a nutshell.
