• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

I'm m worried about the sound not how a pipe bends.....

Yeh but it looks weird why did they not have the mufflers like the original, straight? I think the Kia one sounds better.

I agree that the Kia one sounds better, but it’s really hard to tell through speakers and not in person.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Some of you mentioned the US version has a louder exhaust. Isn't it just louder because they are pumping louder exhaust noise through the speakers? I'm not sure there's an actual difference with the exhaust system itself... Hopefully for the 2019 model year we can have an optional, true bi modal exhaust system like in Australia.

I am sure i read somewhere that Kia America might be working with a company to design a louder exhaust for the US market.

Here it is same company but I don’t like the angled pipes and mufflers.
On first pass it seems pretty good. Also has the bimodal function which is a winner. However, as most people have noted it'll have to be decided in person on the actual car. Nice to know there are options if the KiaAu developed one isn't the right choice.

I was going to buy a Mustang Gt but when I saw the low safety rating I baulked. I loved the sound from the Mustangs exhaust tho when I drove it. Stopped looking until the Stinger arrived and I drove it. The only disappointment with the Kia is that it was not like the concept car with suicide doors.
Mustang GTs always seem to have an amazing sounding exhaust system... For suicide doors, you could always spend a couple of bucks more and get one of these...

I'm not 100% certain but I'm almost positive this is not the case. There is more in place to keep the exhaust quiet "on the outside of the car" for the South Korean version - and I believe the Australian version is the same. The American Stinger is louder at the rear of the vehicle.

That's cool. Probably all the ones I hear on youtube are still preproduction cars that testers get their hands on.

Probably. But I doubt there's truly a whole lot of difference anyway. I'm pretty sure most people who want some decent rumble are going to look to the aftermarket...

I think you're right about people going to the aftermarket. I know Borla is working on an exhaust system for the Stinger. I just hope it doesn't void the warranty. Legally I don't think they can but that doesn't mean a dealership can't give you a hard time. Personally, I'd like to put a nice exhaust system, a K&N intake and an mild ECU tune on it.

I hear ya. Well, they really can't do too much for you with the exhaust. Yes, they can try. I've heard stories. Now the intake and tune - that's another story. I'm not sure how people have been treated with this stuff through Kia. This is all new to me as I've never been so serious about buying a Kia before the Stinger...

No doubt the intake and ecu tune would at least void the warranty on the engine. I probably wouldn't do any mods since, if I get the Stinger, it'll be my only car for a while and I need the warranty to be effective if something went wrong. This will be my first new KIA too.

Well, I wouldn't say that it "WOULD" void the warranty - but it could. If you blow the engine, they're probably not going to pay for it if you have a tune. Maybe not even with an intake. But there ARE variables...

That sport exhaust system sounds pretty good! Is that the Bi-mode exhaust system?
Yes it is - says so in the Youtube Text Info.

I wish we could get ANY sport's exhaust in the UK
