Australia Bi-Modal Exhaust Updates

The only other question i have for the dealership, if this bimodal exhaust pictured, replaces the standard exhaust, do we keep it ?

You paid for it you keep it.
The bimodal is stainless steel and pipes are ceramic coated. If you fit ask for the old ones back. Maybe they take a trade?

Ok, thanx for the tip, i have the bi modal already on my paperwork, but i have told the dealership, a number of times now, call me so i can hear it on a demo Stinger, i might not even go ahead with it, if it doesn't sound much greater.

Spoke to my dealer he said none will be fitted to demos. It should sound ok just not like a V8. Personally I think I will wait a bit until the dust settles.
In the initial hype pre release they said it was included in the price. It’s a bit much to ask to pay it on top after spending $66k.

Has anyone heard if this bi modal exhaust will make it to the USA or other countries? Or is this an Australia only thing? I'd go for it myself.

When will the exhaust be ready for installing on cars in NZ?

February I have been told.

Has anyone heard if this bi modal exhaust will make it to the USA or other countries? Or is this an Australia only thing? I'd go for it myself.

This exhaust was specifically designed for Australia and steering and suspension tweaks too. It was considered there was a serious lacking in the sound dept given popularity of the V8 there. Doubt they will be exporting them to USA having to meet every states regulations.

Can’t believe they want $2600+ for that.
I agree that it is expensive but keep in mind that this system is covered by the 7 year warranty and it is intergrated with the drive modes with no drone. Getting a system in this spec for a German brand car would cost upwards of $4-5k.
Personally I can’t wait to have mine fitted to complete the driving experience.

If I'm not mistaken, the Australian version of the Stinger is as quiet as the South Korean's domestic market Stinger. So here in America our exhaust is a bit louder. Interesting, though, that they kept the exhaust quiet and sell an upgrade at the dealership...

I’ve been told that Kia Motors Korea have made an exhaust upgrade available to purchase from factory but Kia Australia wasn’t satisfied with it and is why they are developing a system locally. It’s possible that the exhaust in the US is that one supplied from factory and they have costed it in, adding the the end figure.

Kia developed an exhaust just for the USA it appears-

We get stuck with the quiet one and the person who thought to get all our cars fitted with this and so have to pay for an upgrade has already received a promotion.

This is kind of where I'm leaning with all of this. Everybody is getting a tiny bit screwed with the Stinger - equally. :p

At least you guys got the better suspension, deep chroma blue, surround-view camera, wireless charging, and who knows what else?...

It doesn’t actually say Kia Motors America developed it.

The article doesn't actually say that Kia Motors America tweaked the exhaust and only lists it as Kia, I can't imagine Kia Motors America would have a specified exhaust department, It could still be coming from Korea. They mention later that they are working with aftermarket companies like Borla to get an even louder one, which is where you'll need to pay more and in-line with what Australia is doing.
If we had this exhaust included it could of added say $1000 which would of made more people upset with the RRP price (including me). Then some will complain that it doesn't sound good enough and they should of left it out make the car cheaper and fit one themselves. My understanding Kia Australia tried it's hardest to keep the RRP under $60K.

Agreed but here in NZ we also get screwed on the warranty - just three years with an additional two years on the drive train. Lousiest warranty on the planet and what makes things worse is that we have the identical cars to Australia and Kia Australia own Kia NZ. They have deliberately stuck it to NZ customers who also pay more for their cars.:poop:

Have you heard about OUR deal and what our neighbors a mile north get? :p

Yes I have actually. Should we start up a rant area on the forum where we all can vent just not at each other? :geek:

For any who might be interested in a six cylinder car with a decent bi-modal and how it sounds please watch:

I own one of these (in black) and if the Stinger could sound as good I may just splurge. To buy anything that was inferior would not make me a happy chappy. It sounds far better than the one in the previous video from MOTOR.

Good point about warranty, I think I will raid the loose change tin and get it fitted lol

I was going to buy a Mustang Gt but when I saw the low safety rating I baulked. I loved the sound from the Mustangs exhaust tho when I drove it. Stopped looking until the Stinger arrived and I drove it. The only disappointment with the Kia is that it was not like the concept car with suicide doors.
