Stinger Winter Tires

So, TomTom26, the Kia 18" off of a 2.0 will fit the GT over the Brembo's? I just left the Stinger pop up store near me and they could not confirm or deny that 18" will fit over the Brembo's. I was looking to do an 18" winter wheel/tyre package and was hoping the 18" would fit.

I don't know how many different 18" wheels Kia offers for the stinger, but I can guarantee at least one of them fits over the brembos. You can option all season tires on the gt2, if you do so, you get 18" wheels. The gt2 has the brembos so there has got to be an 18" wheel that fits over the brembos.

If you are looking for steel wheels, I found these that might work.
STEEL WHEEL - Onlywheels
would somebody really put this wheel on their stinger?

When winter tires become necessary, I'd rather spend less money on rims that are just going to get nasty a couple months of the year and save that money for intake/exhaust/tune.

There's cheap enough winter alu tires :) It's actually better if they're not too fancy, because in winter, I like rims that I can clean easily, like simple 5 armed rims etc. Steel is just horrible.

Grin. Never works for me though .... it always has this "Can buy a sleek car but doesn't have the money for even cheap Alus" stigma.

how many months a year do you use winter tires over there @voon ? I only need them maybe 3 (December - February) so it's just a short term thing. If it was the opposite and needed 9 months of the year, I would definitely be more inclined to get nicer rims

Mostly the same rule for most people here: O to O ("Oktober bis Ostern") ... october to easter. So 6 monthish.

Speaking of winter, I guess I should've expected this but snow definitely gets stuck in here!

It's really not that bad

Ok, what everybody seems to be forgetting, that not too long ago, virtually every car came with rims like that. And car manufacturers would supply the wheel covers.
The steel rims now used as winter tires are the same rims that used to come on most cars ex factory as a matter of course. But somehow, nobody talks about wheel covers anymore.
Steel rims and wheel covers go together like ying & yang. It's not a new concept.
For the unintiated: wheel covers come in all sorts or designs, and completely change the look of steel rims, which should not be any news to gear heads.
It is completely beyond me, why Canadians in general like to put these black rims on their cars for the winter (and forget or are too lazy to take them off come spring) and seem to consider the ugliness of such a badge of honor - or have either no pride, or are too cheap to buy a set of said wheel covers. They can be had at Canadian Tire for $60 or so.
There are ways to improve the look of black steel rims. Just saying.

@tofu
Good point, but then again, maybe it's just cold enough in Winter, anyway :)

@moinmoin
Ewww ... I still think, some cheap 17" rims for under 100$ per piece are better :P

Yeah, that's bound to happen. In fact, I don't know how it can be avoided on any car. Maybe more wheel gap...

Hehe, I forgot all about these. :p Yes, with the right covers the wheels could actually look pretty good...

My issue with steel rims is their weight. I'm a huge weight-savings kinda guy, especially in unsprung weight and drivetrain. Wheels are the former!

is their weight

I am well aware of all issues pertaining to steel rims and did not intend to promote them. My post was simply to point out that there are ways and means to disguise the relative un-atractiveness of steel rims, the way it had been done before for decades.
On the other hand, I would reason, that one would drive a car shod with winter tires differently than a car with summer performance tires, no matter what kind of rim.

I'm all for weight savings as well. I only brought these steel rims up for a cheap winter tire option and I won't be going to any car shows, drag strips, or autocross events on winter tires anyway. The other option I considered was using the stock rims for winter tires after getting some light weight performance rims for the summer. But 19" winter tires are more expensive than 18" winter tires as well.
