GT2 AWD vs. 2020 BMW M340i (price comparison)

Its not the badge your paying for, its quality and customer service. look at most of the complaints on this forum and that is what KIA is lacking. I was actually told by KIA Customer Care to avoid the 2 dealerships close to me and take my car an hour away because KIA didnt trust the two by my house.
It depends, there's one Kia dealership here that I've had very good experiences with so far. There's another that's absolute garbage. When I brought my 330xi to a BMW dealership years ago, I was treated pretty poorly. Maybe it was because I was young and my car was 6 years old, I don't know. There is definitely a "Badge premium" but that's not the only thing you get from the extra money.

they also run mid 12's, love or hate them BMWs are known to be quite a bit faster than their HP figures would indicate. An M340xi would pull several car lengths on a stock stinger at the strip, .4 to .5 seconds in the 12's is a very big gap.
I don't know if this is Kia's fault via their marketing of the stinger, or just our human nature to enjoy a good underdog story, but people in general need to stop comparing the stinger against every single performance oriented car on the market. It has a complicated enough field of competitors as it is.

Let's start with the BMW 340. As mentioned previously, the stinger is a land barge compared to this vehicle. As far as the german luxury competitors are concerned the stinger sits right in between two tiers of vehicles. It is quite a bit larger than the 440i GC which only clocks in around 183" X 72"W X 55"H. The S5 sportback is closer in size coming in at 187.1"L X 72.6"W X 54.5"H. For Comparison the stinger is 190"L X 74"W X 55"H. That doesn't seem like a big difference on paper but to put it into context here is some information on the next class up in the german luxury market. The 640I GC comes in at 197" x 75"W x 55"H and the S7 196"L x 75"W x 56"H.

From a performance and class of vehicle perspective, the stinger can hang with all of these vehicles. From a price perspective I believe the the mid market 4 series and S5 are the true competition and the market the stinger is targeting. Technically I would say from BMW's perspective at least, the 640i GC is the real competitor in their fleet but they aren't in the same market's.

In summary, the Stinger does well when compared to the vehicles it naturally competes with and shouldn't be measured by the vehicles it does not.

Car and Driver states 4.4 seconds to 60 and 12.9 in the quarter for a Stinger GT. Yes, a little slower than an M340i, which starts at $55K and gets to $70K real fast- a number the Stinger just can't match.;)

Does BMW offer Limited-slips on their non-M cars now? Or do they still believe that unless you give them M car money you only deserve to put your 300+ horses through one wheel?

I think it’s more the badge. Look at the new Toyota Supra, fans are freaked cause of BMW reliability.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Closest match I could find up here is a 340i xDrive Gran Turismo which goes for $73K CDN vs $51K CDN for the comparably equipped Stinger GT Limited. Easy choice in my admittedly biased opinion.

I have a 2018 R8 V10 plus and my exhaust tip was peeling off, only after 6 months of getting ignored by 2 local dealers, multiple calls to Audi headquarters I was able to get it fixed. So what did you say about customer care? :D My wife's Kia Sedona had its windshield cleaner reservoir damaged and was leaking, they fixed it the same day we called after waiting 1 hr for 90 USD. PEELING.webp

Or maybe you can explain why in spite of paying 80,000 USD for my Cayman 981 the headliner was sagging and dealer refused to fixed because the warranty expired 1 wk ago, had to call multiple dealers again ignored, called Porsche Atlanta Headquarters they fixed but still charged me some premium. So what are we paying if not the badge?

Hey, at least you have exhaust tips, unlike the faux exhaust outlets painted onto the new A8 and A6 bumpers!
