Drive modes smart, eco, comfort, sport, custom what's the difference

Do the drive modes also effect the AWD ratio?
Yes. Front/rear is 40/60 in all modes but Sport, which is 20/80 (I thought that one of the modes was 50/50, but I think I was wrong about that). This is for MY18. MY19 is different. Sport is even more pronounced rear bias.

Anyone know the F/R ratios for the 2019s?

I find sport mode on my MY19 AWD to be very different than comfort or eco. The gas pedal is much more sensitive, the transmission holds gears longer and seems to shift a little harder, the artificial engine noise is more pronounced and best of all the tail will step out some even with the nannies on coming out of turns.

Its a huge difference over my old Optima's eco button that just made the gas pedal useless and my wife's car in which the sport button just makes it hold gears way to long no matter how you drive.

That's normal.
dunno why it took me so long, but in sport mode and the traction and stability controls off my little 4 banger, and she rips up road just like a hot rodder should!

With my Optima 2.0T's the difference between "Normal" and "Sport" was pronounced. Sport really woke the Optima up.

But in my Stinger Premium it's not so big a change, except that the transmission holds onto gears longer (too long in many cases). And Eco hardly makes any difference that I can tell.

You guys with GT's probably have a completely different experience.
It definitely makes a difference but I think it depends on the individual as to how much of a difference. For example if my wife was driving the car could have one flat tyre, transmission slipping and an exhaust leak she would not notice.
I unfortunately notice Everthing, 5psi difference in tyres, the slightest engine noise, the slightest interior rattle, I even notice if the car has a fuel or empty tank of petrol (or gasoline for those that are English language impaired)
The throttle mapping has a huge difference in response as does the transmission, it doesn't just hold revs longer, it down shits much more aggressive and constantly sits in a lower gear so when you floor it there is not noticeable hesitation then kick down like the other modes. Steering is a little heavier but I don't feel any more feedback, just more weight and as for suspension I'm not a fan of the sport mode, it does a horrible job on undulated roads but is not stiff enough on smooth roads so I normally just leave it in comfort..i think sway bars would help a lot, couple of people on here have done them.

I *think* the 50/50 comes from the most it can put to the front on-demand, but none of the modes go that far as a starting point.

Just wondering, am I the only one here that Cannot select ‘Custom’
It does not exist as a mode. I have Sport+ though

Would help if you told the forum what your drive is.

Sorry.
A GT.
In Europe that is the 3.3 AWD full options.

Does seem odd for the top spec model. In AUS we have Smart, Eco, Comfort, Sport and Custom.

Anyone have an idea of how economical is eco mode compared to the other modes?
I see little if any difference in any of the modes vis-à-vis mpg average. When I drove to TX and back (over 2K miles), I averaged over 25 mpg, all in Sport mode and using the paddle shifters most of the time. On my most recent road trip to CA, LA area and back, in Eco and using automatic, it was virtually the same. My best TX leg showed c. 28 mpg. I managed to hit 29 mpg between gas stops on the CA trip but that was a fluke of mostly downhill that stage and possibly a tail wind.

I asssume you can get better mpg's if you study the sliding ''bar'' graph in the instrument cluster and try to keep it pinned to the left.....which is impossible, but fun to look at.

You mean pinned to the right? That's the 50 mpg end. :D (Unless you're referring to the Smart mode bar graph, which has Eco on the left and Comfort on the right.)

Here is proof!

And Sport+ is not just another name for custom. On the center screen an option to customize the settings is non-existent.

I was hoping to have a custom mode too because of all I read. Unfortunately the Eu stinger do not have that Setting, but we get a seperate Sport+ mode. Have not tried that yet btw.
Every Region of the world got a different car. The us stinger has no closable cupholder but an led stripe on the passanger side dash. Eu is the other way round for example

Europe gets a Sport Plus mode that turns off traction control, the rest of us gets Custom.
