I kept looking at the metal cap on the inside of the Spectre cone filter thinking what if that thing gets sucked into the intake and subsequently into the turbo... so I did some googling and sure enough that has happened to people. Promptly returned them for a K&N without that problem. It still fits with the lower box on. Those of you that are using the Spectre from Autozone might want to spend the couple extra bucks and switch too.

Also I'm pretty sure the Spectre is actually terrible at it's main job - filtering

Informative and what model K&N filter did you get that still fits with the lower box? And are those 90 or 60 degree elbows?

It is a 90 elbow and the 3 inch ID 6 inch tall K&N. Any longer than about 6 to 6.25 inches and it wont fit in the box.

There are also numerous reports of conical K&N filters failing as well. Usually the metal mesh inside which gets sucked into the intake.

There are also far more positive reviews than negative for both brands.

I chock a lot of the negatives up to owner negligence.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
just a question with the K&N filters , do you need to do anything special to the filters before the install ,, just wondering as I recently ordered the intakes ,, thanks in advance :)
